I like the mechanical power in VS but I hope that electrical power will be introduced.
Rather for automation I hope to be able to use electricity for lighting and material processing. In particular, electricity is necessary to make aluminum out bauxite.
PS. Also steam power would be great
I'd prefer steam power come first.
If/when electrical power is brought to the game I hope it won't be as simple as finding "redstone" and using it as is.

I'd love something to be built into the core game. For now you can use VSHUD to do this.

I really love that you can do other actions while looking in a container. Probably the best example is using the torch to light the camp fire while the fire interface is still open

There are times that I like to mute or reduce all my sounds from the game without muting my entire computer. I found when I was trying to reduce the sound of the constant rain where I settled (Oregon lol) on our server, that none of the sliders affect it at all. That I reported in bugs, but it would be nice to have a master level slider so that I could mute or reduce the game sound as a whole rather than messing with the sliders that I have set where I generally like them.

I'm sure dyes is on the radar. I think I remember seeing it anyway. I'd love to also see colored plaster! especially pink!

I'll add more to this as I notice more details.
I planted a bunch of saplings on the server world I'm playing on a couple days ago. I haven't been able to get back on til today and I noticed that all my saplings were gone. I tried punching all around the block I planted one on and I didn't break an invisible sapling so I figured they were just gone. Night fell and I worked on other stuff in my base. In the morning I had trees all over the area so all those missing saplings grew overnight.\
I didn't notice this before 1.12.9-rc 1
I have the VSHUD and carry mods running

I've noticed that in my SP world too. My chickens have had the same 2 portions for in game weeks.

Mac OS support has been spotty due to lack of hardware to debug on
What goes into debugging? Is it something that I could help with since I do have a Mac I could run it on?

Just released a small mod that makes some tweaks to the VS game with a few assets, including:
- Whittling wood items into sticks using knives and saws
- Stacking tool heads
- Gathering limestone rocks from muddy gravel using a wooden bucket
Next on the list:
- Making some items use less metal material to cast (such as knives)
- Gaining unused metal scrap from forging metals.
Haven't checked to see if you posted this yet in the mods section, but please update us when you get the up next stuff done.

I think i made a small mistake by allowing v1.12.9 clients to connect to v1.12.8 servers - could this be your case? Because that would cause such issue.
I don't believe so. Our server was updated which caused us all to update. I believe Rorax tested it in a single player world as well.

Since the new version this just started

Is the reading it gives for the entire chunk all the way down? Or is it possible to get one reading on/close to the surface and another down deeper?
-
Stuff like that is being considered in the far future.

You should still mark any surface copper you find and dig it up if you have the durability on your pick. It only takes 20 nuggets to make another. You can also pan for them. Using the pro pick is the next step. It takes 3 samples at least 3 blocks apart and it'll give you an idea of the possibility of ore in that chunk. This video is helpful.

Ok hey now stop adding additional evil to the suggestions lol
On that note though, if we include your previous suggestion for the compost bin changes (to obtain compost at a more reasonable rate), you could have any soil type be improved up to the level of terra preta, negating it entirely. Just keep composting and tilling it up. Breaking the block will reset it to 0. This would make my slightly annoyed, but it makes sense.
The different blocks can still have a max amount of nutrient it can hold, or maybe the growth rate could be the differentiater. But the compost would only be effective to it's max level. Maybe prolonged composting could bump a low to a medium and a medium to preta, but that would take some time.

I searched far and wide and couldn't find any. Then while digging a new charcoal pit just outside my fence... limestone. LOL

I feel that the best solution to this would be newly placed soil defaults to zero or very low nutrition numbers and would need to be built up from there. New farm, new soil. I can totally understand trying to source up new soils on a multiplayer server. Even on a single player I collected it, I'd like to reuse it, redesign the farm, etc.
Ooo...cool idea. Placed farmland has 0 nutrients and you have to till composted material in to it to build the nutrients up.

. Stick fences are indeed an idea i would endorse. maybe 3-6 sticks and 1-2 rope per piece? (needs to be kinda expensive else the other fence would lose it's meaning)
Love this!

Great idea

primitive fences / walls / gates / roofs: It is very difficult to find sufficient building materials in the stone age, especially if you like to play with sideways instability turned on. ... It is also incredibly frustrating to lose early crops to critters when food is so scarce, so fences are a must at the very least.
Fences and gates would be nice. Could you state examples of how it would work from a game mechanics perspective? You can already dig ditches and make dirt walls.

A similar idea was brought up recently and the consensus was that such a structure would not keep out drifters, or even likely wolves, making it more work for the dev with little more than aesthetic value to players.

Isn't that like cob?
15 minutes ago, Devilofether said:Clay "buckets": we already have clay jars and urns; and clay is already more airtight than wood typically is, so why not make urns that can carry water source blocks
Yes. I brought up the clay buckets too. Question is... Why would anyone upgrade to wooden? Maybe clay has limited uses?

In short... Everything available from mods in Minecraft.
The idea of this game is for it to be easily modded and offers great support for the modding community. Most of this stuff will come with time, just much of it from mods.

Corner stairs and orientation control
in Suggestions
Posted
I noticed when putting down some path stairs that I have to be facing just the right way to get them to place how I want them Also, they wont form a corner when they are placed to make one. It would be really nice to be able to change the orientation of the block and also for it to make a corner.
