HAHAHAHA I had thought of doing this. Is this in vanilla or with the MorePiles mod?

Exploring Interest in Alchemy Class
Enjen replied to Er Adens's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
Well if you're planning to make a mod you've got my vote! This seems fairly thought out. I haven't played the story yet so I can't back you on that front -
Haha yes! All for non-doormat villagers LMAO oooo maybe if a trader has a "Greedy" trait they'll make the player pay for a night. At that point the player has to way their options. Make your own bed with materials on hand (if you do), trek the night in search of another trader who is nicer, or run all the way back home LOL

I think my definition of RTS might be inaccurate LOL. I've simply grouped any top-down city management/civilization management/wargame in the same bucket. During my research a few years ago Banished does seem rather harsh! Another aspect that attracted me but ultimately didn't get around to experiencing. I love when people love a game so much that stuff like this happens. Hallelujah! Oh my goodness you're right! I could've sworn there was a feature like this... Perhaps I'm thinking of the feature/mod where you can control the villagers in First Person mode. I may be thinking of another game entirely, and only remember Banished as a game I came across during my search... You prompted me to take a closer look (I also very much enjoy things that are Magical) and this looks incredible! I'd definitely consider adding this to my worldI follow the creator on YouTube to watch him code and whatnot. Your description of it is definitely accurate. I think it utilizes the concept of rust and rifts well It would appear so After thinking about it a bit... Maybe this thread would be better suited in Off-Topic rather than Discussion?
-
I see! Banished is an RTS right? I'm not sure what changes Colonial Charter does but I assume it adds more to manage hahahah I tried Banished for all of an hour. As embarrassing as it sounds, I got the game because I liked the idea of naming the individual villagers. (something I couldn't do in CIV 5) Your comment about it not being as inconceivable as I might think gives me hope! I may have to dip my toes into modding. I typically stream gameplay of VS but perhaps I'll use that time to Publicly learn coding!

Amen!

Yes! That is my one fear with this game and most other survival games. Is that it just feels pointless or the goals I set are arbitrary. I'm happy I still have the Story to delve into hehe. I also don't play without Mods (MorePiles is essential ) That was my hope for this thread! To be an outlet for people to share their visions, ideas, and wants for the new Mode! as well as for the Devs to sort of, take inspiration or confirmation that an idea they had will be well received. I LOVE YOUR IDEA SO MUCH BETTER. It's immersive and does the same thing of an "overhead" view. Very creative Miss Dragon! I think the reason my mind went to a very Menu-centered approach was because of a mod in the other block game that turns it completely into a Real Time Strategy game. With resource management etc. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!~ Repurposing already existing mechanics and expanding on it. You impress me more with every post Lady. (Sorry for the glazing) Daaaang so seems the Balancing was a bit off haha or expected too much of the players. It's a fascinating premise though! What I think would be really cool to see in this new mode is NPCs actually interacting with the world/terrain. A baker needs to go and find it's ingredients to keep it's bakery stocked etc. and we can go see him in the late hours of the night (or a day where the bakery is closed) harvesting the materials needed and taking them back to his home, and he actually prepares it using the oven and other mechanics available in the game. This sort of autonomy seems wildly inconceivable

Ahhhh! I was a big fan of ToK. I got out of it though because I think the Mod wasn't updated for future versions. I had almost forgotten about it! I would often pair it with "Minecraft Comes Alive" for the vanilla villages. Ancient Warfare sounds very interesting! A sort of City Management approach. Seeing features like these as I mentioned would be very ambitious, but I'd welcome it with open arms. Perhaps when you're interacting with these mechanics the view changes from First Person to an overhead of what you marked as a Kingdom etc. So many possibilities! lolol My ADHD cannot contain itself
-
Oooo maybe establishing it as a Kingdom of sorts. A form of Diplomacy with you as it's ruler would be pretty cool! Albeit quite an ambitious feature but cool nonetheless!
-
Agreed! The only reason I think I'd consider adding NPCs to my VS world is if it were a Multiplayer server populated with other players, creating their own communities. Literally breathing life back into the world from it's Apocalypse. For VS Fantasy? Oh hell yeah. Bring me all the population goodies~

I'm not sure if this is just a me problem, but I find it very difficult to look for specific mods in the ModDB Site. I do a search, and it just doesn't seem all that accurate. I don't get relevant mods to what I'm searching for and if I try to sort by certain categories or keywords, it also shows not so relevant mods. I'm suggesting a revamp of the ModDB that's a little easier to search.

Vintage Story (VS) Fantasy Gamemode Goooood Morning Vintarians! In light of the newly announced game mode project (W.I.P Title: Adventure Mode), what sort of Fantasy items, blocks, worldgen, creatures and other stuff are you hoping to see?? I love Fantasy settings! This has got me rather pumped. I'm curious to see what the team can come up with (and how quickly ) I already like the mention of Dwarves and Elves. Perhaps we'll see some magic systems? Wands, Tomes, Magic Circles, Alchemical Dusts and Rituals etc. Again I ask, what are you hoping to see?
-
Hahaha I never said when night started. I don't know what point you're trying to make. I hope you have a good day my fellow Vintarian
-
I'm not even talking about the enemies lol @Echo Weaver said the bed passes the night. Which I was agreeing to because you said:
-
I sleep at 24:00 or 1am and it gets through the night. Hell even at like 22:00 or 23:00. Gets me through the night at least on default settings

"Missing mod dependencies" not telling me which ones
Enjen replied to circusseal's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
if what @idiomcritter suggested doesn't work, I'd try a fresh install of the game if I were in your shoes. -
Tyron, I and many others believe in your capabilities as a CEO of your company. We believe in the abilities of your team at Anego Studios. If you've got a vision, I don't think anything should hold you back, especially if you've got a plan in place.
-
Just seems like the polite path to take. This is totally just personal preference, hence why I'm suggesting it be a mod haha Imagine this random person your selling stuff to just... sleeps in your bed lol
-
Basically what the title says! Not sure if traders are even "codable" but may be a project ill look into as things are noe you can go to a traders wagon and just sleep in their bed if you find yourself there at night. My idea gives the Trader a conversation option where you ask "Can I spend the Night?" and when you wake up there is a "Thank You" option.
-
You make some really good points and sound concerns. I'm in agreement! The most chance of success would be a complete new fork from the beginning. However I do understand them wanting to integrate it into VS as a game mode to see if a playerbase is even wanting it in the first place. I suppose that's what Early Access for a game is all about right? Early Access VS Adventure (Hytale Essentially) and Early Access Vintage Story. Two separate entities. Two separate games. Perhaps using the same engine so they don't have to start all the way from scratch.
-
Anego choosing to take this next step for their Studio after all these years is fantastic! The game we bought is advertised as unfinished/Early in Development. I've gotten my money's worth playing the hours I have in the world I've created. I don't think an expansion like this is inherently bad. Is change scary? Sure! The future is unpredictable the majority of the time and can be viewed differently based on everybody's individual personal experience. Hiring on coders who lost their whole project (who Tyron may know personally and knows their skill and/or simply wants to give his colleagues an opportunity) to work on an added Game Mode for an already amazing game just sounds great! New Coders for a new branch team to work on a new Game Mode. I don't know where the idea of resources being allocated incorrectly is coming from. These are people, with a passion and have decided to expand. That's not to say well-sound criticism (or otherwise...) won't come. Change is scary. I don't doubt Anego Studios can create a plan that only benefits the future of Vintage Story and all old and new players alike. You cannot please everyone. The loud ones aren't necessarily the majority... they are just the loud ones. I Support Tyron, Anego Studios and their vision.

Hello lovely Vintarians~! I just wanted to come on here and say I will be starting my Vintage Story modding journey sometime soon (life is so hectic making the time to set aside for hobbies is quite difficult...) and I will be live streaming it and editing those streams into YouTube videos. I have 0.98% experience with coding in general so this is Not a tutorial. This will be more like a documentation of my journey! I will be using the Modding Guide on the Wiki as my guideline throughout my streams . For those that are interested maybe you can follow along with me or perhaps you'll watch me crash and burn and I throw my computer out the window Either way! I'll update this post (Either with an Edit or a new Comment) when I begin.

I can agree with that. It's much easier to consider a proposal if you've got a prototype. Why have the discussion prematurely if you can talk about it after it's been demonstrated. One thing I'd say to counter that is to incite the creation of the mod in the first place. If someone says an idea and gets shot down (exaggerated. More like "That'd make a better mod than a feature") instead of engaging with it and building and expanding upon it, I can't imagine anyone feeling inspired enough to create a mod. Of course this is my opinion. I think ideas like, add Super Mario or a Star Fox Arwing to the base game should just strictly be mods. BUT by engaging in suggestions such as those, could create ideas for Future implementations like Blue Overalls as a new clothing item. Or Flying Machines way later in development and the conversations can continue to evolve from there. Perhaps someone gets inspired by all the talk and actually develops a mod for it, or however it'll transpire. I'm speaking purely optimistically but you get the idea.
-
They're the one who developed DanasTweaks right? They've done wonders with that mod lol Agreed! Continued maintenance for the game is always nice to look forward to. A refinement of the vision if you will hahaha. I do admire the game being so open with its code. It's truly inspired me to pick up coding!
-
Absolutely! and I agree. I admit I did get a bit frustrated and may be drilling it a little too much. How he chooses to interact with an idea is completely up to him. I cannot force anybody to respond to ideas in a certain way. I apologize Thorfinn. You're entitled to your opinion. As am I. May we have more discussions in the future.
