    Redwood Boat

Interesting I am on 1.21.0 vanilla and live in a redowood forest. If I cut a redwood tree down completely I do get redwood logs but the majority are quarter logs. Never realised you could just lop the branches for redwood logs.
  2. I will also add that you need to make sure both piles of coal are lit. Sometimes I was only lighting the front pile and so the furnace was not working properly. In the end I chiselled out openings on both sides so I could see if all coal was burning.
  3. I placed a wodden trap out and it was sprung but nothing inside. On using a pick axe to pick the trap back up I lost it completely. Seems a waste of hinges and planks if it is one off use.
  4. Watering can - good shout. Ah I was tring to stack 2 of each stone to make a neat pile in front of the crate, Cannot do that with chalkstone. I can put single stones down. Just looks ugly. but will suffice until I have enough parchment.
  5. 1. How do I get rid of the house markings? ( i know you can use F to change the symbol) Already flooded my house trying to sue water to ge rid of them 2. How do I place chalkstone on the ground like other stones? I like to put a sample of each stone on the ground in front of my crates for identification. I am aware of parchment but prefer this method at this time.
  6. On my first play through I got to 220 hours in and hardly hit the story line. Of over 40 traders I never found the elusive one. When 1.21 landed I decided on a new start and set my world for a warm start. What a difference!! I am way more ahead than the first playthrough. Admittedly I know a lot more so that has sped things up. It's now December in my first year and I haven't seen snow!! Here in the Redwoods it does rain pretty much all the time but really good for foraging mushrooms. Greenhouse, barns, honey farm and windmill with quern all up. Orchards laid out waiting for my first cuttings and its hunting time to fill up my barns with some animals. Loads of boar around but not seen a milk producing animal so that might be a problem but I must have my Cheese Grommit, Cheese!! One thing I am missing compared to my last game is coal! Not seen a single seam of it so far but as wood is plentiful my charcoal pit is being kept busy.
  7. Just type it into the chat box.
  8. I have used both methods. The prospect pick is great when you want to find a specific ore. I am 220 hours in on my first playthrough but pro pick was very useful it getting tin/iron early on and pentlandine, ilmenite & chromite late game. Use the area search to start and when you have someting you want go out around 40 blocks N, S, E & W to see if the % chagne increases or decreases. If increase move to that mark and repeat until you find the best %. Then change the Propick setting using F to localize the search. I use a 2 wide shaft straggling the clock as I go down. Every 12th/13th tile use the propick as on vanilla it searches in a 6 tile radius for any local ores. Bismuthnite, sulfur, lead, olivine and borax I seem to find when cave delving.
  9. In 1.20 Hares will eat Parsnip.
  10. Yeah, this is what I did. Marked every resin tree on the map and farmed them reguarly. Luckily I have a pine forest on shale quite close and over time been able to mark 17 trees within reasonable distance.
  11. I have a very basic set up. I large gear at the top with 4 rotors. I started with 1 rotor and added more as I got the mats. Central axle running down to another large gear and then to the quern, helve hammer and pulverizer running off this. I added the clutch and transmissions as I obtained the mats. As a single player it is a simple, compact and does the job although maybe not aestehtically pleasing. I recently added a second helve hammer.
  12. I moved from 1.20 to 1.21 and my ewe is no longer lactating after giving birth.
  13. Thanks for the reply I went through the patch notes but must have missed the tweak on hares. Makes sense and thanks for highlighting it. I got my steel but something was defintely not right with the process. The fire was lit and topped up reguarly but a couple of times there was no progress on the % and even though the coal was alight underneath you could enter the chamber and take no damage at all. Had to pickaxe the alight black coal out and then replace with new coal and relight to get it progressing again. No biggie but just so people know. Might be to do with going off exploring and being away from the base. Glad I checked about going back to 1.20. i'll stick with 1.21 though I do appear to have a lot of floating grass and snow since putting in the Treasure Hunter bit. Oh well live and learn.
  14. Hi first post in the forums. I am 200 hours in on my first vanilla playthrough (What a great game!). I converted my save to the new 1.21.0-rc.1 so this made be something to do with it but Hares no longer are listed in the large trough when parsnips, carrots or other veggies are in it but panda bear is! Is this intentional? https://i.gyazo.com/b2bf69eb0caf5698aa6c8b3c1461b7fd.png Also having trouble with Carbunization process keep stopping even with full 16 lit coal underneath. No smoke is coming out of the flue, you can walk into the chamber and the tips say you should light a fire underneath. I have to empty the coal out put a new set of coal in and relite it. If I want to go back to the stable patch will my current save be convertred?
