  1. the blessings of Dave are upon me!!
  2. the world is littered with them iv got like 12 bars of meteoric iron since getting the iron pick... now need to blooms to be blooming ready so i can make an anvil so now iv played with the teleporter im going to try for a windmill to prosses it all
  3. every thing iv researched about this game tells me im lucky or glitched its a standard world i went full vanilla with no flake and iv found a double meteor today... what the frack??? iv found lots of them too its mad iv got soooo much flax and i spawned on top of a trader 1157020829 is the seed it was created in 1.21.4 if you can check it out do so here's the double meteorite (all the way) thought i was lucky here... was following the borax here was like ummmm no way is that more impact rock then boom double meteor!!! thats two big booms! booom! booom! stay warm and well ~Galdor the fool
  4. if all else fails glue an aged chair in a dungeon and pick that up
  5. im working on it im working on it i swear!! the idea is that due to render distance issues and not having windows my in house my character has never SEEN thunder lord Dave tho i imagine since i heard of them before i even bought the game my character will have heard of it from the traders, so the depiction on this attempt is meant to be crude and have to many legs as Galdor has just heard "there's a big long necked monster with lots of legs if you see it get inside" but also I'm no sculptor so it looks like this, for now.... its placed in a shrine around "the tree of life" (name totally stolen from real life) as i found an abundance of food on, near and living around it. i also made a bush craft faux pas collected all the shrooms around and on the tree with out looking made a stew and promptly poisoned my self to death... the tree giveth and the tree taketh away. With the same bough you may build you roof from dave and the tree may see fit to put wood worm in that limb and bring it all crashing down on your sorry head... made from granite block and suevite

  6. so one bush craft walk and a big think to my self about moving in to the local woods and becoming a folk legend/scary story later i reconned it was time to go home and play some vintage! i think iv had an incredibly lucky start to this game i spawned on top of two traders, i mushrooms in abundance, i got really good hunting wolfs and bears, i learnt the meta of low damage then high damage for hunting (agro then kill), i had more than enough wild seeds, i found two patches of high fertility soil and realised i needed to find out how the games crop rotation worked and it gets better and better when it comes to resources. i did have problems finding any kind of clay and forgot about panning so that was a ball ache but I'm building a new forge away from my chickens (oh yea i trapped them too) so they can sit on there eggs with out me scaring them all the time, life is good i'm planning a big move as i am on the bottom of the artic circle witch is really not fun (knew i had a problem year one when the sun didn't set one night) most recently i found bismuth and then the same in game day after seeing a cave next to my house that i had not been in to found iron and a teleporter witch means i could get the meteorites that i found at the start of the game and get ready to get zapped for the first time!! WOW also made a few bug reports for the first time ever cos i really care about this game its given me joy and something to do in a grey old England thanks for your help with navigating and the positivity! have some picks of the bismuth iron and my new smithy plus a map of the current lay out be well stay warm!! ~Glador the fool

  7. i was doing a think and people seamed to like the Saxon house... so i thought some more... so im here to jot down some thoughts and try and commit my self to some positive action. Its not really historically accurate but its inspired by the form and function of pit houses (sleeping, warmth and cooking) that i extended as i needed, added a chimney for looks and to keep the fire out of the way and a narrow covered entrance to thwart bear attacks this is also to stop the snow from blocking me in or out of the house (see other post in off topic). But now id like a tower so i can have something to do wile there's a temporal storm (ie shoot at things) how ever towers are not a Saxon house thing and I'm not ready for a mid to late medieval fortified manor yet. this is a repro of a royal Saxon dwelling. https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmikecarden.co.uk%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2022%2F08%2FAnglo-Saxon-longhall-768x433.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=ecdccd86a5a510437d23cd22e8ea7a34122814586055caab76b961513c82444e that thing at the top is a chimney not a tower (really? no way sherlock) but the shingle and windows are nice (note small windows and i could even make the carving at the end how ever there's no tower... but churches did/do have towers... https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.pinimg.com%2F736x%2Fe0%2Fb4%2Fa7%2Fe0b4a7372a3b2261f419c2fc20dc4931--round-tower-ancient-buildings.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=fb13bc2e888cee56af38d44614903d52969f67e443d34d2a3bf371e540570bef this is a grand little church and with its stucco walls and cobble'ie bits is a inviting concept that also has A TOWER! Saxon and early medieval churches were not what they are now they were places of refuge for the poor and homeless and also a refuge from attack, so it makes sense that i shelter from the temporal nightmare by locking my self in a similar structure. there's a rudimentary rampart and windows to shoot from but it is religious in nature so who shall i dedicate this structure to? Why Dave of course! iv already got one little fantasy religious spot witch i will do a post on soon (when the statue of Dave looks less like spiro and more like the thunderlord). i need some thoughts tho idk how this building should be altered to fit with the setting? i like the quiet solo rp potential this game has when it comes to setting and how that drives the players purpose I'm thinking a windmill to take advantage of the tall structure I'm building or some kind of scientific instrument the glows perched atop the tower itself but if i were going to borrow from Saxon culture maybe a inspired mosaic of Dave on the floor? Keep the dragon theme? maybe hording temporal gears and Jonas parts there and make a bit thing of it with display cases and all that? any ideas you have are greatly appreciated i will be hashing things out in creative Glory to the power of Dave...
  8. i like to fight wolfs and go in to caves to look for lore bits when I'm not hunting for resources I'm very new to the game and the forums too but iv found its really fun to throw food in sealed crocks and put some apples and bread in a bag some basic tools and weapons and walk. on the way out i like collecting more seeds when ever i see them and marking down fruit trees and on the way back harvesting animals and any food or resource on the way back depending on how much lore stuff i have.
  9. Thank you mate! i am awful at it tho I'm giving the carving mechanic a go and its helping me brake out of that mold (slowly) but the rest is me being a history nerd thinking how our ancestors would live and get around problems... like bears... them gosh darn bears. iv found the fire place really set it off that and i really want to add a scroll rack to go with the book shelf for the lore bits iv found. for getting started at anything i use what a painter said to me once "Make a mistake. Get something down. And then go from there"
  10. Thanks mate iv really enjoyed the binge the game has had me happy and scared and sometimes both the madness is fun! With winter food was a big scare now i have too much of it i feel, and the last thing i did was to add chickens and a pen to get rid of some of the flax seed so when i come back storage isn't a headache. Now iv done two iv learnt to bring a crock pot and bread everywhere so i can use the hunters speed to move through the snow and run down deer, also to visit my spots to turn up the render distance to scout by eye for the thaw. The pit house/dugout house was a go to from my irl knowledge i needed a house quick i didn't know when it would get dark and i could hear wolfs so i made a 2 by 4 pit with earth walls and log roof and stayed for the traders En rout and Mustafa (totally a couple), it has expanded from there as i needed more space and now its quite spacious . I'm moving on this summer tho i really want to find a warmer climate with no snow for a rice harvest and easer all year exploration.
  11. thank you so much! very cheep to build and also cosy af
  12. thank you!! I'm very happy with my cosy little settlement just need to find somewhere i can grow rice and find all the lore bits!!
  13. nothing i kept it to how it was set unless iv messed with something without knowing this is going to be my vanilla forever world so wanted it to be as bog standard as possible
  14. that sounds good ill set up out posts and store food there or something so i make it if a storm hits wile im moving
  15. I finally figured out how to take screen shots and as you can tell I'm a little bit please with my self and with what iv accomplished! first is my pit house inspired by migration period Saxon settlements in England built on spawn as i was in a mad dash to beat the winter that seamed a bit anti climatic when i finally got there, then the inside of the smithy complete with tapestry and realistic smithy organised messiness witch is not finished outside due to a temporal storm, then finally my map witch shows how iv been desperately looking for a warmer climate and also shows some gear and the in game date. I have tons of food (like to much i may have to get composting) and good enough gear to get away from a bear attack or a horde of... those things... and a fancy shield! needless to say the effort i put in researching this game and reading the guides helped a lot (i still don't know what time swap on the y key is for tho) I've just found tin (one and a half days north) but now iv hit my goals, think I might take a brake now do some real life shenanigans idk yet may just go for a walk with out being attacked by a angry wild chicken! when i come back i may build a walled village here or even migrate to the tropics (if I can find them). thank you for helping with my last requests hope this post is easier to understand than my first, tell me what you think!
  16. thank you again for your helpful comment mate! i will consider this next time i load up a world how ever i'm a bit attached to this one since iv just found tin summers are ok i just cant figure witch way to the more tropical regions i guess its going to take three four in game days of walking and all my crock pots full of stew
  17. im 111 hours in f that iv got the food and the bits to walk out now but i may stay put till i get an elk
  18. the game file says its 100K from poll to equator iv gone north and south and i cant escape the snow or frost... i just wanted a winter home to grow rice and have some where to explore from should i try again and start fresh with different settings?
  19. hi mate idk how to reply so hope i'm doing this right cheers for being polite i'm going to try that world gen thing now hopefully ill find something cool
  20. so um yea on my really old laptop on the track pad 100hours... I'm on year 1 in game mid November late copper age, full cellar pots and crocks a bustin... i must of got lucky on spawn right!?! i have of course been killed by bears, wolfs and hunger but after discovered spears and as long as I'm smart about food and bandages I'm fine (and as long don't stop running to look back at my impending doom). i have ALOT of flax so i had full gambeson by the start of my first winter i only bought gambeson leggings, i spawned right next to a clothes and artisan trader so that helped with gears and warm clothes and have only just stopped rocking the shield for better accuracy with the bow and spear. i went hunter because i like bows and the fur coat looked cool plus it seamed the best beginner class from the research iv done prior to playing, iv enjoyed all the good bits and fought through the slightly tedious bits to get back to doing the fun stuff like fighting predators and looking for loot!!! (i have a thing about hunting entire wolf packs and wiping them out and winter caving) and it all started with a pit house i dug on day 1 that i still live in. i like the game! its hard, but good hard because if i die its cos i messed up! but i thought id just say these are the things iv been confused or frustrated by. i don't get why some animals attack you after taking damage its funny and makes them easier to kill but its not been my irl experience with these animals such as foxes deer semi wild sheep and goats est they want nothing to do with you especially after you hurt them or startle them witch (to throw a pro in here) it why i liked the fact i had to drive deer in to a stone age style pen to cut off its escape to kill it. witch brings me on to my other big point. spears are both the best early game weapon and the worst at the same time, here's my grumble (nap time is now troops ill wake you when its over). The spears iv messed with in my more active past have been scary stuff, they are anywhere between 2.1/2"-3" and 6" across at there widest point and and most weigh enough to put a large dent in most solid objects, i get copper heads were tiny but there is nothing that will take out a deer or sheep in one shot witch i find infuriating because the current meta of shooting things with a arrow to agro them then throwing a spear or two at them at them to finish them quickly makes my autistic hyper practical head hurt that wound is going to be lethal and the weight would not allow for running that fast, and why do spears and arrow fall out of the animal and the animal not bleed out??? how do i make a stick in to a 1"-1.1/2 thick shaft 6' long? can i not pay in wood for a better weapon?... its for balance i get it (its over now you can wake up again). i would love it if there were a swallow tail arrow head's/barbed hunting heads for the iron age but iv seen mods witch i will download if i ever get a better computer so there we go, tldr I'm enjoying the game its sick i love the look wish i could download the mods that give you rivers, sea's and weapons that make sense esc. as then i could make a sailing boat and explore more. what's your thoughts on what iv said and what makes sense or not to you from your irl experience?
