Any game with some sort of a challenge no matter how good it is will probably make you vent. I’m loving VS but I geniuenly got upset the first 2 hours when I couldn’t find clay for the life of me, and I wanted to build my base next to a deposit. OP if you’re reading this I mean no disrespect is just my opinion, but in that first 2 hours I didn’t come straight to the forums where it’s obvious most people who use it are fans of the game and call it $5 USD shovelware. OP has given it another chance most likely because people were praising it even more and probably went and watched some gameplay, the game is genuinely good and I haven’t been this immersed in a game for a long time now personally. But again OP if you’re reading this I don’t mean no disrespect, and it’s nice to see people like you that can actually give something a chance even after they disliked it.

The clay struggle was real for me as well, but not as bad as some others in this thread, it took me about 2 hours to find my first clay, later on I found so many that I think I’m set for my whole play through when it comes to clay. Although I just wish it was easier to find it, I think it might deter a lot of people from playing the game.

Pro tip: torches in the offhand makes your hunger rate up to 120% Apart from that, it looks nice. Enjoy!

I have my base near a lot of peat, I'm glad I didn't think (oh this is a good spot for a pit kiln) hahaha

Digital Extremes is up there with the best developers in the world.

I'd like to defend myself and also others and say that jumping from game to game can happen to anyone, it happened to me and I'm certainly still having that problem but it seems to be less abundant right now after changing a few things I do when playing games. Actually, when I was a kid it was the opposite, I'd stick with 1 game and play it for a long time, I finished more games at that time than now, I even stuck with games like NBA 2K (I didn't even watch the NBA and it was the cause I started watching it lol) and played MyCareer for hours per day. For the past 3 years something seemed off, luckily I'm starting to figure it out.

Rare moment when someone criticizes the game without giving it a proper chance, but still does and it starts to grow on them. For me it took me about 5 hours of gameplay for it to start growing on me lol, now I'm almost 20 hours into my world, still stuck with copper tools but that's the beauty of it, I don't need to rush towards bronze tools, at the moment I just focused on improving my build and expanding my farms, hunting from time to time.

Make a "Rye Allergies" mod so it gives you negative HP every time you use it, so it forces you to only use Oat hahaha

Apart from that @Veronica Hohenheim, you can also always contact the devs to restore your account if you have the email with the key or any kind of receipt, you shouldn't worry much.
-
Yeah I don't see that happening anywhere in the near future at all. Just because it's an indie title doesn't mean there is a chance lol.
-
Well that is the only way to verify ownership, through your game account created in the client area with the key. I would understand if the game didn’t require signing in but then let’s say a group of friends wanted the game only one would buy it for everyone to have it lol

I liked the vibe of it, even installed a mod that improved the overall sound effects and sounds in general on a temporal storm. It's not bad, only 2 things I changed are hunger rate to 75% and animal swim speed to 50% because the damn wolves and bears are faster than me for some reason on water lol. Plus it makes it easier to kill animals instead of having to dig a hole for 2 boars.

How to Survive Your First 5 Days - Vintage Story, as a Beginner
Forceous replied to YordaEatsMelon's topic in Guides
Great guide, while I'm way past the 5 day mark it still had some useful information for me. Hopefully it helps other new players! -
As a new player I kind of see temporal storms and rifts being a problem for old players rather than new players. For me, it's an exciting new game mechanic and lore piece. And I haven't gotten annoyed, the first time I got a temporal storm I was so immersed in the game when it happened I kind of forgot reality and I was genuinely experiencing a bit of fear. For older players, I would understand that it's probably old and stale for them now, and just an annoyance rather than a cool game mechanic. Although this is my opinion, other new players might absolutely hate temporal storms and rifts.

You can use this command to disable rifts, which will in turn lower drifters spawn rate /worldconfig temporalRifts off

If you had ragdoll every time you just 2 blocks too high it would get annoying But on death this sounds like fun.

steam Are the developers ready to launch Vintage Story on Steam?
Forceous replied to Yappi Door's topic in Questions
Completely moving away is not a good idea though. As a consumer you're not getting hurt by using Steam even with DRM (they will not wake up on a random Tuesday and take all your games away) and quite frankly I cannot imagine myself using that Epic Games clunk or even GOG which is DRM-free. On the other hand, there is a big issue with Vintage Story being on Steam and that is the refund policy, you only have maximum 2 hours of playtime to refund your game. Given how it took me about 5 hours to be satisfied with the game and also the fact that the progress is just very slow paced, lots of people might not end up liking the game but they're way past the refund time. One good thing about Steam is regional pricing, while there is already an option for LATAM countries, that doesn't mean everyone else can buy the game at 20 euros, it is a cheap price overall, but lots of people from my country would not be able to afford it, and if it was on Steam it would've been priced around 12-14 euros which is more affordable. -
Or you can just press C ^^ It shows the info at the bottom of your character

I think it's just a security measure, it's everywhere on the internet, if you haven't used a service for quite a while it logs you out as a security measure, probably the same for VS.
-
Well, isn’t everything else on the internet like that? If you don’t use an app or a website for a long time you’ll have to login in to them again.
-
I was considering turning on that setting but good to know it's a bad idea lol

Any chance of ever adding the ability to set spawn via bed?
Forceous replied to luckdennis94's topic in Questions
At the moment I used a command to set the spawn near the base, until I get a really good grasp of the game, especially since I set my base so far from the initial spawn point (due to absolutely no clay in the area) -
I pray you have my luck, I got sent to the copper age earlier than I was expecting by finding a copper pickaxe in the wild and used to mine a copper vein, now I have a lot lol
