  1. This has no negative impact on the playerbase other than dev time. And it would be suited to a mod if they hadn't coded it in such a weird way that makes it hard to remove without finicky mods.
  2. Can already do all of this in the settings aside from removing armor penalties last time I checked.
  3. I EDC a bucket hat, a compass, and a cold steel entrenching shovel. There are many things that I do that I can not explain well to others.
  4. I'm perfectly capable of holding both shields and torches in a normal position for hours on end with no issues. And considering I play blackguard, who by lore is much stronger than a average joe like myself, I do not see how he'd ever be inconvenienced by chisels, tongs, shields, torches, lanterns, ect. Also, again, I'm here discussing my personal opinions on the matter which is that I think the mechanic is bad, and should have a toggle for people like myself who dislike it.
  5. There's already a ton of customization within world settings, adding a singular extra button isn't suddenly going to ruin the game for people. I can already adjust the hunger rate and nullify any balancing the game does if I wanted to, but I don't. I just think this one singular mechanic is unnecessary and should have a toggle to be removed.
  6. Oh. My bad. I already do that a lot anyways but the noise no longer bothers me. If I get really invested in doing something and didn't bring food I just subsist off of bandages.
  7. Are you suggesting I mute my friends because they had criticisms about a game I asked them to purchase and play? And this has nothing to do with balance. I even don't have any difficulty playing the game to begin with. It's just an annoying mechanic with little purpose other than being used by some people to make a show of how VS is different from "the other block game". But, because I respect different strokes for different folks, I'm not here arguing against its existence. I just want a toggle.
  8. Yes. There's supposed to be a functioning system that debuffs you based on the number of creatures you're hauling. Which I do actually agree with as I shouldn't be able to put 3 full sized adult bears in my magic bag and not have my legs buckle little.
  9. Prefacing this by noting that I requested this before and got somewhat lambasted. Half by individuals who asked me to not waste the dev's time and half by people who made it sound like we were in the Salty Spitoon from Spongebob while simultaneously being afraid to call Minecraft by its name. After further playing a good long while, and by that I mean I've been playing since the beginning of the year, I am still confident that I hate this feature and everyone I've introduced to the game thus far hates it even more due to them struggling with hunger. Problem though is that for some reason this particular feature seems very hardcoded into the game, and modders struggle to remove it. The mods that do exist utilize unreliable work arounds and/or are buggy and thus interfere with other mods. Example being: This alternative penalty mod, when adjusted to remove all penalties for having an offhand, also completely strips any penalties from the butcher bag weight system of the Butchering mod, a mod I always run on every playthrough. We're already able to modify a ton of other stuff in the game, so the ability to turn this off seems like a simple, quick, and highly appreciated QOL to implement.
  10. New one from an art perspective is better but from a design perspective looks bad to me. It's all metal and steam punk technology, completely missing representation of the primitive survival and primitive technology that make up the core gameplay experience. Looks like something you'd use for a magi-tech mod pack for Memecraft instead of VS. I'd suggest filling the scene with stuff like barrels, a clay oven, firewood, a hanging bucket, a lantern, a prospecting pick, a chisel, basically some combination of copper to iron age items that're iconic within the game and noticeably stand out compared to items within other block games. Something that says "This is what you will find in VS" I like the addition of the mushrooms within the scene for that reason. You could further expand on that with tree resin and a tree mushroom as well.
  11. Correct. Like I stated in the post the singular backpack would ideally fill out about 70-80% of the currents slots granted by a total set of the same tier of bags, and the rest would be filled by a number of pouches deemed sensible for balance. Probably about 1-2 secondary bags so the third slot can be left for customization or to spend extra resources for a few extra slots.
  12. Found it weird that the inventory system is just a bunch of individual bags thrown onto the character. Even more weird once you get to the backpack stage and you're carrying around 4 entire backpacks which leaves me with the mental image of someone trying to bring all the grocery bags in on a single trip, or that trope of a boyfriend following his girlfriend shopping and holding a billion clothing bags. Thought of a neat idea: singular modular backpack with slots for customizations. The first slot in your bag menu is a primary backpack slot. So a large reed basket, a linen sack, mining bag, leather backpack, and sturdy leather backpack. Second slot fits something onto the top end of your backpack, the third slot in the bottom left, and the fourth slot in the bottom right. Customizations can include a torch holder/lantern, a sleeping bag, pouches for additional inventory, ect. Each customization visually changes the backpack, and is tied to the backpack so placing it down keeps the customizations with it. The total size of the main backpack could be most of the inventory space currently granted by a full row of the same tier of bags, with the rest being filled out by 1-2 pouch additions. So by equipping a backpack and a couple pouches you retain the same inventory space you'd get now plus 1 additional slot for customization. Or you could ignore pouches all together and still retain about 70-80% of your normal capacity while getting several slots to add things. Could even further this idea by limiting the customizations and the amount of them to the backpack tier. So Reed Baskets get nothing, Linen Sacks get 1 slot, Leather 2, and Sturdy Leather unlocks all 3 slots.
  13. Armor stands kinda suck from a practical stand point. You gotta hotbar and manually place each piece on the stand, then when retrieving them you have to grab them the same way and still have to equip each piece like you normally do. This is already annoying even in vanilla, but becomes immensely more so when you get into mods like Combat Overhaul with layered armor. With the space the stand takes up it'd be more efficient to just jam everything into a single chest. This leaves the only real reason to use them being as aesthetically pleasing art pieces/statues to decorate the base with. So it'd be nice to have a feature that rips the armor off ya and places it in the relevant slot for the dummy, then allows you to auto equip armor from them in the same manner. If possible setting it up so it's easily compatible with mods, or at least easily configurable for the mod creators to tinker with. Would make them so much nicer as a QOL tool for gameplay and would make them considerably better for storing gear than in containers.
  14. I found out after attempting it that I have a carrier grade NAT and can't do port forwarding. I'm not familiar with this stuff so all I know is that I'm kinda boned and can't do normal port forwarding. I also can't afford to buy server hosting. Do I have any other options I can try out for hosting a game for my friends? Cause it'd be nice if they could join my world.
  15. I thought of the same thing as well but because there doesn't seem to be the framework for selective hitboxes I assumed it'd be pointless to suggest as that'd be a mountain of work to implement. Status effects just seem easier to implement from a coding standpoint, however if possible I do think your idea is better.
