  1. That does look super cool, and gives me all kind of ideas based around mc's overgrown caves with the overflowing look, but I do need this to be a functional base rather than something purely decorational, hence the struggle. Thanks for the inspo picture tho, it's fucking stunning.
  2. I have a great spot for a hostpring build in the mountains by a lake but am struggling to figure out what I actually want to build. I want something that actively incorporates the hot springs (I've already downloaded the healthy springs mod so it has a purpose) but don't think the typical Japanese compound idea fits with the hilly area and general biome. Next I was thinking a Nordic sauna type thing, but all the inspo I can find is very modern touristy and also very much does not look like the colorful part of the spring I like. Maybe a longhouse or cabin with a fishing-esque overhang? Maybe a combined armory space, since it will function as a health booster? I could do a castle-ish thing for that wing, but I'm not convinced on how it would look since it would kind of keep me from going for the full wooden lodge vibe. Any other ideas ya'll could float by me? I'm really struggling lol
  3. Okay, thank you! That will definitely change my plans around tho lol
  4. Also if I put my cellar anywhere near the hotsprings, does that ruin it's ability to preserve food?
  5. So my base is by some hotsprings, but the wiki seems a bit lackluster when it comes to info about it. I'm planning on using it to heat my home and eventual greenhouse, but will that actually work? Over how large an area? Will it kill crops with being too warm? And it has a unique gravel type, but it's not listed under the gravel page. Does 'sludgy' gravel have unique drops if panned? Does anyone know??
  6. Thank you for all the replies! Some great advice here. And if ya'll want the seed, it's 2051784207. Tho I did tweak some settings (landcover at 70%, landcover scale at 300%, upheaval rate at 50%, landform scale at 120%, geologic activity uncommon) am used some world gen mods, (rivers, plains and valleys, maybe some others but I've changed my mods too much since updates that I'm not sure) and generated it like two-three updates ago so things may be different for ya'll. Me finding this world only took a few hours of resetting with geologic activity as uncommon and increased spawn location height tho, so I'm sure ya'll could find something similar pretty easily.
  7. Sorry! I made this post on a whim between tasks, I didn't even think about how hard it would be to actually answer . I've taken a couple of screenshots of the little valley I've set up in, despite the anomalous of animals constantly trying to maul me. Sorry about the rain, I tried waiting a few days and it still kept up. The rammed earth structure it my main base rn, but I think will eventually be a sunken A-frame situation I've seen done a few times really well here on the forum, or maybe a mossy roof Nordic type look? The other dirt structure actually by the hotsprings was the initial shelter I made before realizing putting my starter home exactly where I want to build my final one (abridged to the spring, for warmth) probably isn't a great idea. Beyond the hotspring is a pine forest, and in the other direction is a birch/larch one with one (1) maple tree I'm thinking of spreading for materials. I'm not sure if I could pull off a Japanese look in a clearly not Japanese biome, or the sprawl that a traditional compound would require, but I would be down to giving it a shot! Ig I'm just tired of the usual medieval style from all my time playing mc, and am looking for something else.
  8. Hi! I'm still very new to vintage story and trying to gear up for my first Real Build rn. It's in the mountains by a small lake with a hotspring for warmth purposes, but I don't really have any idea what to actually aim for. Any ideas for vibes/historical inspo/shapes/outlines to start with? Would really appreciate it.
  9. Follow up question: I know bauxite is like, rare rare, so if while pulling worlds I found a beautiful cliff face area of the stuff, should I call it a day and just use that seed lmao. It's genuinely stunning and has water around, I just worry about wood availability since it seems more wind-swept mountains and plains than forested from my fifteen minutes wandering.
  10. Thank you! For the welcome and the advice. I'll be sure to continue to pray to RNGesus but maybe my problem is I'm looking for a spawn that's mountainous rather than a whole world that is? I love exploring, and that includes exploring a variety of biomes/areas. If there a mod to control world gen near spawn like that?
  11. Hey! New player here looking for a good long-term seed. I'm a big fan of mountains but have been struggling to find a seed that has good looking ones, decent water access, AND higher than low quality soil/animal presence. Any seeds you could suggest to me? Or world gen modifiers.
