Blue (battle berry) Posted April 9, 2023 Report Posted April 9, 2023 Heya, folks! Do you want to use a controller to play vintagestory on your PC? i will give you a run down, but you need: 1. Steam 2. Vintage Story Step one: set up the controller type(s) on steam in steam>settings>controller>general controller settings step two: once selected, you may need to restart your PC step three: once you get back in, get your controller set up for playing vintagestory (the below is what i recomend, and it works for me lol) step four: Enjoy vintagestory with a controller (NOTE: above is for X-Box controllers the glyphs might be different on the controller you use!) 6 1 2
ThiccBirb Posted July 10, 2023 Report Posted July 10, 2023 Just tested this out, WOW I wish this game had native controller support, it's so smooth and really nice to sit back and play! 1
Rhyagelle Posted July 24, 2023 Report Posted July 24, 2023 It would be really cool to have native controller support. To lie back and farm and relax with a controller be would so cool. Thanks for sharing! 2
Elsa Droz Posted December 18, 2023 Report Posted December 18, 2023 It doesn't work, can you give more details? 1
Weeder Posted January 4, 2025 Report Posted January 4, 2025 When you go to Stam -> Settings --> Controller there is no other options. it sees my xbox elite 2 controller. But i cannot map custom buttons.
Dex939 Posted February 25, 2025 Report Posted February 25, 2025 Hear are the one im using for my Ps5 controller, Also Btw the way to get to it is by downloading steam then as soon as it opens at the top left coner hit the steam logo -> then setting -> controller then finally scroll to the bottom to Desktop Layout and edit . You should see your controller if its conected by Usd idk if bluetooth works but at least im fine with the wire. Anyway just add this buttom layout and and change it as needed in any case. 1 2
Tory Slusher Posted May 20, 2025 Report Posted May 20, 2025 I made this, I think it's a very usable key layout, most of the stuff from a WASD keyboard is on there + the mouse. It was for an Xbox One controller connected to a PC, but probably will work with other stuff too. https://www.rewasd.com/community/config/75384650ca1e7d762bbbbe7afb6d4c65
luiromde Posted June 11, 2025 Report Posted June 11, 2025 I use that on my Rog ally and it works well no problem. But for example I use a mod that I have to press z on my keyboard and I haven't found a way to do the same using the controller. Anyone know how I could do it?

How did you get it to work on the ROG ally? I've been trying with these steps for a few days and it's driving me crazy

RabbitNamedRogue Posted August 27, 2025 Report Posted August 27, 2025 You can also map the keys to your controller through Big Picture Mode. Press View-->Big Picture Mode-->Library, then click the game and there should be a controller logo. From there press Edit Layout and start mapping. Have Fun!

PilotG Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 @Elsa Droz This is a pretty old thread. Here is what i learned on my little bit of experimenting. Steam>Setting>Controller. Scroll down to where it says Non-Game Controller Layouts. Click edit. Make sure your controller is connected to the PC so that you may map the buttons. Enable Steam Input. Click the controller icon to select from controller layouts. Click community layouts and chose one of them. I recommend choosing a Minecraft one and editing that. Please ensure that your key mappings line up with your VS keybinds. After this you may need to restart your computer. If any of this is wrong please let me know and I will update my post. Hope this helps.
