Totally lost - crashes with no errors

I haven't played VS in forever, found some people to play with and downloaded it on my pc (Ryzen 9 7950, 64 gb of ram, 3080TI, WIN 11 Pro). I join the server and it seems ok until i try opening the handbook or doing the tutorial and I get this error. Breaking things, eating, random events cause it to just drop to desktop with no error. I tried single player and the handbook works fine, but I get random crashes with no errors. They have one mod, Ironman something or another. Even in single player it crashes, just poofs.

Here's what I did and haven't had luck with:

1. Update video drivers

2. Update/reinstall java

3.Reinstall game, totally removing appdata folder for VS.

Here is the only error I can get, and it's when I click "Start tutorial in handbook" and press any key (w,a,s,d, etc)

According to the crashlog, you have one third party mod loaded, called "onebedsleeping", version 2.2.0.

This is not "ironman" something. Please verify that you have the mod the server requires, and also remove any mods the server doesn't require. Especially when testing for stability, remove all third party mods first.

Sorry about the "something " as I don't know the exact name of the mod,  it downloads itself from the server.

I can reinstall everything and not play on multiplayer. No mods. Just single player.  It will drop to desktop with no error while harvesting,  crafting,  or just seemingly any random thing.

I had resigned to just playing alone.

A fresh install,  no mods, current stable version, single player. I get no errors to troubleshoot.  I includes that other error thinking maybe it might somehow help.

  • 3 weeks later...

if you still have problem , that particular error can also by potentially caused by corruption or damaged file in 2 windows software ,Microsoft .NET Framework , Microsoft Office Access 2010 , or windows update in itself , or low quality internet (losing packets if its MP thing) , or firewall (also MP)

i would suggest you do fresh reinstall of net framework as it seams most common cause of this error and potentialy check if it also happens on vanilla server , you could also test your internet connection how stable it is and if you have packet loses , forwarding your ports/firewall to ports this game uses also would help
