What is the function of the water?

The water pushes the drifters and drifter corpses toward the fire, where you can kill & harvest them.

Does a pit kiln do more damage than a campfire? That was a suggestion in a different killbox thread. I think it wouldn't have the hitbox problem that the campfire does, though I haven't tried.

I like this layout. Seems like it would be a good base for a multi-story home.

Wouldn't you lose the ability to refill the fire if you needed to?

No-so-pro-tip: If you put a pit kiln in, do NOT build the building from wood. It will cause problems. (Unfortunately from experience)

Wood lasts 24 hours. I'd think even peat's 16 hours is more than enough to get you through a storm.

I'm not sure. The reason I used a firepit is because (at least I think) you need pottery for a pitkiln and water does extinguish it.

Water does extinguish a pit kiln. It does not extinguish a firepit? Huh. The arrangement of the water and the firepit also confused me, but I guess that answers that question.

You can pretty much always use another set of crocks or firebricks or a storage vessel. I knew a light mist extinguishes a firepit but flowing water does not? I never knew that.
