Erik2557 Posted August 23, 2024 Report Posted August 23, 2024 Hey I am a big fan oft this game. I would realy like to get the 3d models from this game. (It is all json.) Thanks.
Brady_The Posted August 24, 2024 Report Posted August 24, 2024 Because nobody else has answered yet, I'll bite, even though I've never worked with the program. Check out https://github.com/anegostudios/vsmodelcreator. This is probably what you are looking for. You should only need Java 8 to run VS Model Creator.
Erik2557 Posted September 13, 2024 Author Report Posted September 13, 2024 So i dont need a creator, i just need a Programm that Switches json files to a Format that can be put in a 3d printer.
Alder Posted September 13, 2024 Report Posted September 13, 2024 This is the Blender plugin I use. It will allow you to import the models into Blender. From there you can export them to whatever format you want to use for your modeller/splicer.
Erik2557 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Report Posted September 16, 2024 how does it work exactly -how can i import it

You'll want to look up a tutorial on installing plugins, then import through the new import option it creates; File > Import > Vintage Story (.json) At that point you can export them; File > Export > Stl (.stl) The .stl format should be readable for whatever Splicer program you use for 3D printing. You'll probably need to resize the model in your splicer though 1 1
Sprinkle Posted December 18, 2025 Report Posted December 18, 2025 I downloaded the plugin for blender but I keep getting errors like this one. The only model I've gotten to render was the bowtorn projectile. Im trying to get some of the creature models to print out but it hasn't been working well. I've even tried reinstalling the plugin and still didnt work.

Just based on the error, I'm guessing that the problem is that the core game files aren't JSON. JSON always has property names enclosed in quotes like this: { "name": "paul", "number": 2, } Vintage Story stores things in almost-but-not-quite-JSON, which doesn't put property names in quotes, like this: { name: "paul", number: 2, } There's a program called ModMaker stored next to the Vintagestory executable that can convert the game assets to and from Vintage Story's not-quite-JSON format. Since your error says "Expecting property name enclosed in double quotes", I'm expecting you'll need to do that before opening any file in Blender.
Sprinkle Posted December 19, 2025 Report Posted December 19, 2025 I'm just rather confused right now because i dont know why the bowtorn thing is the only one to actually render. Ill have to test out ModMaker later since it is late for me.
