Thornment
I would suggest increasing the speed of collecting items from the ground (there is a strange delay) because it is irritating when I collect, for example, a reed and it stays on the ground because I moved a step and the character did not have time to collect it
Steel General
I, too, hate that delay. I think it is set by the time it takes something to get out of the collection zone when you drop it. If you press 'drop item' (probably 'Q'), you see the entity arc forth on its path to the ground, and if the collection delay was too short you'd just snatch it out of the air, making it impossible to drop things. I don't know that I've sussed the problem, but, if so, there could alternatively be a brief timer on the entity preventing it from being picked up too soon after being dropped, thus letting us pick up new entities at a reasonable pace. I'm sure that's slightly less-efficient code, but also slightly more enjoyable play. There may be some better-still way to sort this.
Thorfinn
There is a mod that shortens that time. I forget what it's called, but, yeah, cranked all the way it made it impossible to get rid of anything the game did not consider a missile. [EDIT] From what I understand the delay is supposed to account for expected multiplayer lag. Edited August 31 by Thorfinn
Thornment
I will check this mod. There is no such a long delay in Minecraft, so I think that if we shortened it just a little, it could be better or change it only in a single-player game, but in a multiplayer game it could be a problem.
