I chose the wrong thing. I read in the wiki that you can re-melt a work item in a crucible, but I can't seem to add it to the crucible.

A work item cannot be smelted back directly. First you have to break it down into bits with a chisel in the crafting grid.

They really need to change this so you can reforge something after a misclick on what to work it into. It's really annoying.

you mean without first breaking it down with a chisel right?

i mean though kind of wasteful, you could add another ingot that then would add the missing pixel...

When I encounter something that doesn't make sense to me I just switch to creative and spawn in the item I want. Once I accidentally messed up a steel pickaxe by one voxel. I would have accepted a pickaxe with lower durability, but instead that metal was now completely useless. I switched to creative, spawned in a completed pickaxe head, and went on my way.

That's not what I meant by misclick. I meant like you misclick what you're trying to make, before even actually smithing.

ah yeah, that's annoying.  and then to salvage with a chisel to then remelt and pour into an ingot mold.... i'm exhausted just thinking about it  heh

Yeah they should definitely just make things reworkable like how you can with plates into door hatches or mail (or anything else, but why would you lol)
