Maelstrom Posted March 12, 2025 Report Posted March 12, 2025 All of the things you mention are in the dev's roadmap: Roadmap - Vintage Story 1
Cattastrafy Posted March 12, 2025 Report Posted March 12, 2025 Doubt it'll make it in 1.21 but I can't wait for the possible procedurally generated dungeons I think were mentioned in the roadmap. Hope they're tuned for a certain progression tier. Kinda sad not knowing how deep a cave is going to go to determine if it's worth your time in less than steel armor etc. I think all we have now is the one and done story content which is tuned for certain progression tiers (exactly what I'd like to see a constant supply of). would love mob "loot" expanded too, on a related note.

Others were belt-driven for getting power from a windmill or waterwheel which leads me to the thing that I want/hope to see: Water power as a means of getting early, reliable, mechanical energy. It can be powered by a waterfall of sufficient height. we need wifu update
Krähenwolf Posted March 14, 2025 Report Posted March 14, 2025 While I would love to see some early game mechanics like woodworking (Chopping Block for firewood and boards, workbench for everything board-related, works like an anvil) and herbalism (I want to feel like a shaman in the woods, marking the trees with beast repellent and grinding concoctions in a mortar), I think most what has been said before will be in the next update. That is, Coral Reefs, maybe more than one taming opportunity, more mechanical power; all of which will be well received as well. If I had one thing that would fit right into it, it would be changes to how wind works (direction-wise, for the ship) and maybe an overheating mechanic, in case we get a steam engine. Overheating could then be treated by: -strong winds (below a certain temperature, of course), -taking a dip into water (so the "soaking wet" does not mean a debuff all the time), -drinking water (Which I agree, does not need to be a second bar above hunger, but rather a new nutrition bar called "hydration" that prevents heat damage, but takes damage itself in hot temperatures - would even make juices more valuable!) or -cooling down in a building with a proper wind tower, like it was tradition in the Middle East before electricity arrived. I think if the wind and heat mechanic gets reworked in these ways, there would be something for everyone: Survival guys get new areas to be starving in, mechanics get new headscratchers on how to employ their power train, people longing for the oceans get a boat that works with wind and the need for drinking water while travelling, and builders get cool new structures to build in their desert or savanna setting. Just my two cents, feel free to comment. 2
Maelstrom Posted March 14, 2025 Report Posted March 14, 2025 What you just described is pretty much the rest of the devs roadmap for the game regarding game mechanics. Considering the speed of the past 6 updates I've lived through, we won't get more than one of the majors on that list. Given the recent poll we will get a polish update for 1.21 along with completion of the unfinished things from 1.20. 1
Dilan Rona Posted March 22, 2025 Report Posted March 22, 2025 Finding out whether or not one of the inventions of Jonas caused the catastrophe that ripped time and space apart in vintage story.

Maelstrom Posted March 27, 2025 Report Posted March 27, 2025 Given Tyron's recent poll and some comments, looks like 1.21 is going to polish existing things up. So maybe this turns into a predict 1.22 update features thread?
-Glue- Posted March 28, 2025 Report Posted March 28, 2025 If they add the delayed coral reef stuff, I would love for them to also increase clarity in water. Imo, it gets too dark too fast as you descend. Wish it looked more tranquil and refreshing, and less terrifying lol. Fishing would also go well with the coral reefs.

Maybe Vintage Story has a different type of water than we do, but to lose over 1/2 the light at only 6 meters deep? In 1.180 I tried to make an underwater base. The roof was level with the lake, with a 3 block tall greenhouse, and a 14 block tall house underneath that, all made with glass walls. The house was pitch dark, you couldn't see anything outside it, and cave music would play every time you entered it. I abandoned the house a in-game week after building it Great concept, but the game just isn't ready for that kind of life yet.
