N0ma13 Posted December 30, 2024 Report Posted December 30, 2024 Have plots not growing and dunno why. First I planted along a river and they grew fine. First harvest last night. Made my first farm plot (20 around a water block) and every planted block is watered, 50% all nutrients, growth stage 1. Won't go up. Been 2 months now almost. Made a second plot right next to it to expand, thinking it's just season etc. Temp is good for all plants. Second plot is all growing just fine. Only the first set of 20 are broken and I can't see any differences with them. Replanting is hard cause I don't have a lot of seeds.
Thorfinn Posted December 30, 2024 Report Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) Usually that's a symptom of it being salt water. I don't know that you can determine that until you have a bucket, tho. Need more deets. Version? Standard? What tweaks from defaults? Anything other than 12-day months? Mods? Don't know what 20 around one means, either, unless maybe there were 4 blocks you could not replace with med fertility soil? Edited December 30, 2024 by Thorfinn
N0ma13 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Report Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) V 1.19.8 * Water was taken from a pond, used the water from 'plot 1' for 'plot 2' so same in both spots. Only changes to default are 12 days, cave-ins, and enabled 'underground farming' because the sun doesn't stop working when the land is below sea-level by a few feet.. (No, the farm is not underground even by game mechanics) The two plots are right against eachother, I think 2 plants in the OG farm started growing but they were planted 'after' all the ones that are growing. Only thing I can think of is that I planted the seeds before the water had irrigated the blocks. Is there any way to retrieve the seeds at growth stage 1/x? Edited December 30, 2024 by N0ma13
Thorfinn Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 (edited) That should all be fine, then. Only thing I can think of is that there does indeed appear to be a bug of some sort that has to do with crops planted while it's still freezing at night. Sometimes they just get stuck for a long time, then one day in June or July start growing normally. The bug is pretty easy to avoid -- just do a silly dance in your underwear around a campfire at midnight on the day you planted. Yes, the rate used to be 0.7, that is you get back 70% of the seeds you planted. I know the fraction is still above 0%, because I accidentally hacked one of my plants out in 1.20rc6 and got a seed back. Edited December 31, 2024 by Thorfinn 2

Lost around 70%, definitely did not get 70% back They're all growing already so I'm guessing it was related to planting 'dry'. Hasn't reached freezing yet, pretty warm climate. Hoping to get another two plots lined out and the whole 80 block farm put inside a greenhouse but that 'large' cassiterite vein needs found first. It's been located! But damned cave ins make mining slow. 1

Thorfinn Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 The silly dance. That's what prevents the farm bug. Or maybe it's what keeps people from stopping by without calling first. I don't recall. But one of those, I think. 4
