Porkbrick Posted January 1, 2025 Report Posted January 1, 2025 anyone know of a guide or demo on how the new roofing blocks are supposed to work (not the beams, those seem pretty straight forward, if not very practical yet)? for the life of me i cant figure out how a few of them are supposed to be used. the half block top and bottoms don't seem to be made to fit together at all and the half ridge piece seems like it faces the wrong direction no matter how i place it? i was so excited about all the new roofing options, but i just cant seem to figure these out. fortunately, the one roof mod looks like its matured to the point that i can just ignore the vanilla blocks altogether. i would like to know if others have the same issue or if I'm just dense tho. cheers 1

I'm not aware of any guides on the matter, but as for how they're meant to be used I think it heavily depends on what effect you're trying to create. The half-blocks aren't intended to fit together, but rather to be used to extend roofs only a little bit instead of a full block, generally speaking. You could also use them to achieve other effects as well, which you'd need the variety of pieces for given that roof blocks cannot be chiseled. As for how to get them to face the direction you want them to...best advice I have there is to just tinker with it until you get it to do what you want. Roof blocks are always a little tricky in that regard, though I would assume their placement will be refined sometime in the future. Overall, the full roofing blocks are most likely to remain the most common ones used.
Vratislav Posted January 1, 2025 Report Posted January 1, 2025 I hoped that the top and bottom roof halves would allow to have roof with half slope, that unfortunately did not work. I haven't tried half ridges yet. I suppose that it might work when using vertical slabs as walls, but I was not interested in this, so did not try. For more intricated roofing, I usually end with chiseling, despite with mixed results.
Porkbrick Posted January 1, 2025 Author Report Posted January 1, 2025 yeah, i was disappointed to find out that the half blocks were not in fact 22.5deg slope. also a little bummed that the "bottom" half block cant be positioned at the top edge of another block (like slabs allow) to make eaves. i was really hoping we could get a rue roofing "slab" with situational orientation similar to current slab blocs, but alas. i would love to see a demo still 3
Münire Posted October 24, 2025 Report Posted October 24, 2025 also, does anyone know if and how you can get bottom half roof blocks? I can only get right- and left- halves of the standard roof block. am I missing something?
