LtMare Posted January 19, 2025 Report Posted January 19, 2025 (edited) I think they are neat, and they'd fit the vibe. The basics for the implementation are already in the game. Also, we need meat preservation techniques. Also also PEMMICAN, why limit yourself to using berries for jams only? upon further thinking we have no way to smoke meat, so that's a strike Edited January 19, 2025 by LtMare sales pitch 1
LadyWYT Posted January 19, 2025 Report Posted January 19, 2025 Welcome to the forums! This mod covers pemmican, as well as a variety of other foods: https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/28 For smoked meats, I believe Primitive Survival adds a way to accomplish that, and for more crops the Wildcraft mods cover a lot of ground. As for preserving meat otherwise, some decent methods already exist in the game. Salt curing greatly extends the shelf life, though it requires either locating a salt dome or purchasing salt from a trader. Fresh meat can otherwise be cooked into stews and sealed in crocks--when stored in a cellar it should last a little over a year. Otherwise, I daresay more food and preservation techniques will probably be added later on. I don't think it's a priority right now, given that we already have a decent variety available and there are other gameplay loops that need fleshing out first. 1
ribbbbbs Posted January 21, 2025 Report Posted January 21, 2025 @LtMare Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the way we preserve meat stew by cooking, then sealing the crock with fat/wax essentially potting it? 2 1
LtMare Posted January 21, 2025 Author Report Posted January 21, 2025 @ribbbbbs you know what? I'm stumped I didn't make the connection, lol. It is indeed like potting. 1
