gogeode Posted April 24, 2025 Report Posted April 24, 2025 as you see in the right of the example photo I have recently started putting 1 block gaps between ladders, it seemed like a convenient thing but I want to make sure that this is actually something I should be doing as I have seen plenty of videos of people not doing this. It would be great if it was just me being overly cautious.
Solution gilt-kutabe Posted April 24, 2025 Solution Report Posted April 24, 2025 @gogeode There aren’t any drawbacks that I’m aware of, and if there are, nothing significant enough that I’ve noticed. I think most people are just used to Minecraft, which I don’t believe you can skip ladders in. Also, you can put the bottom ladder two blocks above the floor and jump up onto it, should prevent drifters from climbing it. Skipping just the bottom ladder might as well, I’m not sure about that.

Tricky at first, but if you're like me, you'll do anything to save a ladder
Zane Mordien Posted April 24, 2025 Report Posted April 24, 2025 I realized the same thing after playing 7D2D and coming back to VS.
Krzysztof Kor Posted May 1, 2025 Report Posted May 1, 2025 this may be a stupid question but how do i get down the ladder
Never Jhonsen Posted May 1, 2025 Report Posted May 1, 2025 (edited) 16 minutes ago, Krzysztof Kor said: this may be a stupid question but how do i get down the ladder There is no such thing as a stupid question You use your crouch key (Default on a QWERTY keyboard is Left Shift) to move down, and your jump key (default is Space) to move up. If that isn't working for you, then you may need to look at your keybinds. Edit: Something to note, the ladder has a hit box. If you have a ladder in a 1x1 hole, you may need to move about to get your character down into the hole. THAT can be a bit finicky, and I recommend keeping a 1x1 hole ladder recessed by one block to help with that Edited May 1, 2025 by Never Jhonsen I forgor 💀 1
LoveWyrm Posted May 1, 2025 Report Posted May 1, 2025 They can mess up rope ladders if you mix and match them in a mineshaft, unless that got fixed, haven't tried it again since 19 or whatever the pre lore update thing was. Basically, rope ladders can be placed and reeled back in, and if they hit a normal ladder stack with gaps in it, it would, I think, fill the gap and then would not be able to grow/reeled back in anymore. Something like that. There's also a matter of aesthetics, but basically, under normal circumstances... there are no drawbacks I can think of.
