NEXDEATH47 Posted July 29, 2025 Report Posted July 29, 2025 A few friends and I recently got into vintage story and love it so far, we all had a similar thought to add some form of butchering system as there is already a mod that does such a thing. Currently hunting does not feel very rewarding and just feels like you massacre dozens of creatures for very little food and resources. Implementing some form of butchering system to get much more out of an animal would be nice, and maybe you could counteract the amount you can get by making the spoilage a little harsher. This would force players to use the food preservation systems within the game, and also helps provide opportunities to add things like meat smoking, as currently you don't get enough meat out of creatures to really justify that kind of system. 1
LadyWYT Posted July 29, 2025 Report Posted July 29, 2025 Welcome to the forums! Given what one of the devs said on the matter, I doubt we'll see something like this in the vanilla game, at least in regards to more in-depth butchering. Meat smoking though, I could definitely see being added. Quote One idea I might give for a mod that won't likely be duplicated in vanilla, is a detailed butchering mechanic. Some team members are averse to things like depictions of skinned animals, and viscera. So the butchering mechanic of vanilla is not very likely to be much more detailed than it already is. Lugh Crow-Slave Posted July 29, 2025 Report Posted July 29, 2025 I would settle just for being able to move the bodies. Individual classes seem fun in mp until it turns into standing around by a kill for the hunter to show up or being the hunter and constantly dropping what you're doing to go harvest the animal.
Katherine K Posted July 29, 2025 Report Posted July 29, 2025 Just being able to take slaughtered rabbits out of enclosure before trying to skin them would be a welcome change. All the other panicked rabbits keep resetting the operation. (And full domestication always takes a while...)
