Dilan Rona Posted August 4, 2025 Report Posted August 4, 2025 Personally though when I have children that I need to take care of for the day, and they are not old enough for VS, i just put the other block game on for them, or if I happen to play vintage story, I let them watch, seeing they like to see what I am doing. Once they hit age 12-15 though, I try to introduce them to VS, and see if they like it. Generally though its been a hit and a miss... But they are at that point aware of the game, and may return to it at a later stage. 1
Dilan Rona Posted August 5, 2025 Report Posted August 5, 2025 Ok, this is seriously getting out of hand now. I used to be a huge NVidia supporter. Not anymore. Â
Mikrosh Posted August 5, 2025 Report Posted August 5, 2025 VS Multiplayer will most likely be target as well. Any online community can be targeted. However, that doesn't mean that they will allow anyone to manage age verification. It will simply not work, the risk for data leaks will be enormous. Especially for games targeted at kids. Forcing a random kids server to store pictures and personal data about kids will just beg for huge scandals. So, the age verification will be done by third party companies. All that Games/Servers/Communities will need to do is to integrate with the age verification services. Basically, before you allow someone on your server, you need to get a response from the third party. Games like VS that have no gore, no violence/nudity etc could provide the integration themselves with the third party. Basically, get the user's age from the third party service, and based on that, show/hide servers marked as 18+. As a server owner, you will have the legal obligation to mark your server as appropriate for children or not, and eventually also integrate with a third party.  But no, server owners will never be forced to do the age verification themselves. That will go in conflict with other laws regarding personal data handling. I know that most politicians are not the brightest, but, there still are a few among them that can generally make the others see reason.  Â

This is not the end goal. The end goal is to have everyone registered on a database, and for whatever reason in the future, with the system you described, be denied service for wrong think, and not allowed to have any interaction with any online community.  You are probably right regarding that. The government will be using a centralised database, that they own and control. And expect everyone else to refer to that database.
Dilan Rona Posted August 5, 2025 Report Posted August 5, 2025 And any server administrator or owner that doesnt comply, will have his own service, and those of the members be flagged as well. And as a result this will affect his income as well.

Dilan Rona Posted August 6, 2025 Report Posted August 6, 2025 A lot of people swear by AMD. But for me, my perfect setup has always been Intel (anything but celeron), GForce graphics card, and a Logitech mouse. Brand loyalty these days looks dead in the water now.

It's just Intel and GeForce for me always. I know AMD has come a long way, but I was so soured on them in my early career, they were very cheap and unreliable. They over heated constantly, especially in the single case fan setups so typical of the 90s. I had the original Logitech MX518 and I kept repairing it for years and years until the plastic was just too worn out to work with. The GX502 just isn't quite it, but I see they remade the 518 again, I may have to get one, even with the ridiculous price. If only I could find a newer keyboard I am happy with. Logitech's quality has dropped badly over the years, but then so has everyone else. Too much focus on flashing lights and other useless features instead of on performance and reliability. Â
Dilan Rona Posted August 6, 2025 Report Posted August 6, 2025 My mouse is a G700s. Goes through batteries like a landrover chows petrol tbh. But I love it.

Thorfinn Posted August 6, 2025 Report Posted August 6, 2025 Yep. Been building for quite a while and on meth after 10/7. (I'm not making a statement here, just noticing...) Anonymous are occasionally on the correct side, whenever the left is not in power. Doubt me? Search for Anonymous posts during BFG. Â Â

Dilan Rona Posted August 7, 2025 Report Posted August 7, 2025 Yeah, no. I'm still lost regarding that acronym. Got every other result except the result I was supposed to look for.

I'm seriously looking at former WP countries, because they know how bad it was under the USSR and they don't want any of this shit again, meanwhile the West is racing fearlessly into totalitarianism. Such a crazy world we live in. Edited August 13, 2025 by Krougal

cosmobeau Posted August 14, 2025 Report Posted August 14, 2025 (edited) I don't think videogame devs even ones from the UK are going to be able to help you figure out this one it's going to just have to play out and you're going to have to see what happens. No need to @ the devs on this one. They're not, like basically anyone else outside of law, proficient enough or even have enough inside knowledge on UK politics to be expected to answer this one, I think. I'm sincerely sorry that's happening there, though. I mean, people get to decide their own age verification right now. Like, 18+ only servers may just go off good faith that you're an adult, require an interview or proof, whatever... But to make that legally required? Damn, as a server host I'd be losing my mind right now. Never mind losing it over those laws. Like... What??? Edited August 14, 2025 by cosmobeau 2

They will just go after the hosting provider, who put at risk of financial loss is likely going to cave without a fight. as someone who has spent the better part of my adult life studying history, no. whenever you think the government won't do X, they for sure WILL do exactly that and probably already have at some point, do NOT EVER trust ANY government EVER. that has literally never once in all of recorded history gone well! 1 1 2
Dilan Rona Posted August 14, 2025 Report Posted August 14, 2025 You hit the nail squarely on the head with that statement.
