multiplayer Server crash when interacting with boat — "Index was outside the bounds of the array"

I encountered a server crash when a player interacted with a boat. The player was disconnected and the server threw the following exception:

This happened right after the player tried to use the boat. The server is running 1.20.12 with mods:

Does anyone know what causes this or if there’s a fix or workaround?
