Bärlauch Posted August 28, 2025 Report Posted August 28, 2025 Hey, I just have two questions (I'm trying to stay as spoiler free as possible): a) How long does winter last? b) How long is one month exactly? (It seems to me that it is just around 10 ingame days but I'm not always paying attention)
Solution SeaWarriorSon Posted August 28, 2025 Solution Report Posted August 28, 2025 You can adjust how many days per month in the world-gen (9 days a month by default I think) How long winter lasts depends on where you are in the world (colder climates, longer winters) if you move closer to the equator, they'll last a shorter time. I think somebody made a chart, but I sometimes check how cold it is at midnight if I get the feeling that I'm in a cold area. After I get a reading, I'll move somewhere more north or south and check again. Either North OR South would get you to a warmer area. 2

Technically, you can get to the tropics by heading north, due to how world gen works with its climate bands(climates are layered in realistic bands, giving the illusion of a round world), but it's not worth that kind of travel distance.

I only just started playing and I don't want to move too far from spawn because I keep dying to wolves and bears (and now also hunger because I started playing without the tutorial). 1
