does glacier ice help cellars?

just picked up a full stack of glacier ice from a mountain and was wondering if it helps with cellars

Unfortunately not, I tried a few weeks back and didn't see any difference. After looking on the forums, I saw some people saying it even has the potential to make it warmer due to it being a transparent block.

This, ironically, is why it won't help at all for a cellar, but will make a perfectly fine greenhouse if you use it as a glass substitute.

There are mods that do this. I know Food Shelves does. 

It does seem like a bit of an oversight that ice makes things warmer. Heh.
