KrampusKid Posted September 3, 2025 Report Posted September 3, 2025 Hello all, I'm new to Vintage Story and new to posting on forums, so bear with me. I'm just having trouble dying daub in a barrel. I've filled a barrel with pink dye but no matter what kind of daub I put in, it tells me I'll just get the same colour of daub back. I initially made a batch of brown daub before realizing it couldn't be dyed, and after realizing my mistake I went looking for other sands and I've since tried 4 other colours of daub that the handbook definitely says can by dyed pink in a barrel, but I'm unable to even seal the barrel of pink dye with the daub in it. I even tried using less daub in a barrel with the exact amount of pink dye the handbook calls for, but nothing changes. I've tried searching online in case there is some sort of bug or quirk with dying daub, but I haven't had any luck. Thanks in advance! ~KK
LadyWYT Posted September 3, 2025 Report Posted September 3, 2025 Welcome to the forums! Just to make sure all the bases are covered, are you playing vanilla, or do you have mods? It sounds like a bug to me, but if you're using mods they can interfere with gameplay from time to time. 1
KrampusKid Posted September 3, 2025 Author Report Posted September 3, 2025 Fully vanilla, fresh world started a day or two ago with a few settings tweaked for an easier time (a secondary save for when I'm away from my main computer)

Hello there KrampusKid. I just tested it on 1.21.0 (pretty much Vanilla) and it works for me. Double-check the ingredients. According to the recipe file the mixing ratio is 1:10. 1 part dye, 10 parts ash, browngolden, brownlight, or tan raw daub. It would be useful if you could share a screenshot. 1
KrampusKid Posted September 4, 2025 Author Report Posted September 4, 2025 Turns out I had misread the ratio of dye to daub in the handbook I was putting in way too little daub for the amount of dye I had barreled. Thanks for the responses, team! 4
