WIll different types of hare breed?

I have a male that is a different type of hare than the females. They all have the "ready to breed" message, but it hasn't progressed past that.

There is plenty of food available and I see they are eating it

I'm thinking it's currently bugged in 1.21 stable, but should be fixed next patch, given the patch notes for the unstable candidate.

For me, the solution was always getting the male to eat more.
If I recall, the males don't show their portions eaten and often needed more than I thought
