Expose something in the modding API to allow us to fully eat bowls, pie slices, etc. Or make it a game option

Kind of tired of managing 0.1 portions of things. Or eating a slice of pie while exploring and then my character tosses out the entire stack in favor of the single bite of pie left over.

I don't care about preserving food THAT baddly, let me just overeat please. I got a pantry that'll last me years.  Or, expose something in the modding API so I can just make a mod that does this.

Having to sit here and count my hunger bar just to make sure I'm "hungry enough" to eat a pie slice has been a bother of mine for a long time

If I can eat 10 stacks of berries in one go, I should be able to eat a whole pie slice

Yeah, it's one of those things that as a software engineer myself, i'd fall in the trap of making simply because i knew i could pull it off and make it clean.  However, practically from a player standpoint, it's not worth it, because it just involves a lot of extra inventory management with little payoff.

At the very least, when eating from a stack, the fractional portion should be the thing discarded when your inventory is full, not the entire stack of food items.

You can absolutely do this with that mod as well. Just, y'know, be careful about how often you do it. We built drawbacks to overeating into the mod, so you can't stuff yourself all the time and get away with no consequences. There are three different preset difficulties, and the wiki gives an in-depth rundown on pretty much everything you could want to know. And of course, for players that want the utility only and really don't want to deal with the challenge part at all...they can basically break the mod and make it utility-only by changing certain things within the config file.

All it does is fix the hunger glitch that can sometimes freeze your hunger bar--not the same thing as the pause with eating a meal! In any case, without the fix, the game can sometimes end up assuming that the player was overeating when they actually weren't, and unfairly penalize them.

I made this mod. Your post is why I did it. so annoying.

The more you eat, the more you will be able to eat. just don't eat too much or you will get fat and slow. At least if you get fat, you'll be able to survive the winter a bit better, so there's not all drawbacks to it.  

Anyway enjoy the mod. Let me know if you want anything added to it and I'll see if I can figure it out.
