Now, I know that there is mod for that, but I would really like if there was proximity voice chat build in for vanilla as feature, I was just playing with friend on official server and we meet some guys, but writing in those encounters is really slow a confusing when the chat is global by default. It would encourage players into some light level of roleplay and also trading and in overal it would give multiplayer game good social immersion.

A pic is just us having great time

maybe even make it a server option to enable or disable it

I think making it a server option would probably be the best way to implement it. Or if nothing else, allow different chat channels to be created, so a server has one global channel as a sort of lounge for everyone to hang out in, and then separate smaller channels for different groups.

Right now, I would settle for there just being a proximity TEXT chat, that would just display over your head and not echo to a separate chat window. So you could talk to someone you just randomly met on the road without spamming the general chat your "Hello, where you from, stranger?" banter.

I'm struggling a lot with this right now on a server that was advertised as RP but voip broke and their prox mod is also not workin either so everything goes to general and apparently they don't enforce RP but if prox chat actually worked I think it would be WAY better.  I would love the game to have somethin like that.
