Whilim Posted November 4, 2025 Report Posted November 4, 2025 Crops are great- everyone loves them. But seeds? Those are a bit unrealistic. Most vegetable plants do not go to seed when it is optimal to pick them. Tubers are big bags of energy that we remove and eat because that energy has not been used yet to produce seeds. We eat greens when they're young and tender and not yet big and tough and producing energy for seeds. Flax? Also ideally you harvest before they seed! My proposal is this: put an additional stage after ripening. That stage will be the one to give you seeds for next season, but you also won't get much usable food or fiber. This will force players to cycle between planting for food and planting for seed, or perhaps have specialized plots. 1
Facethief Posted November 4, 2025 Report Posted November 4, 2025 The issue with this is servers: if someone wants to be off the server for a day or two, they wouldn’t be able to count on having a semi-viable harvest when they come back; instead, they’d just have seeds, which aren’t any good, unless they had grain growing- in that case, the harvest IS the seeds. 2
