2CatsInATopHat Posted November 12, 2025 Report Posted November 12, 2025 i find it really frustrating when i accidentally remove one or two voxels more than i need while smithing and need to make a whole new ingot. a way to collect the removed voxels of metal and smelt them into a new ingot or put them back would be great. id also appreciate if anyone has a mod that does this.

I think Smithing Plus is what you're looking for. https://mods.vintagestory.at/smithingplus "Can recover bits when splitting on an anvil" "Can add bits to ongoing smithing projects (work items)" "Can smith with metal bits and native (copper, gold, silver) nuggets (heat them in a crucible at the workable temperature, do not let them melt)" 2
Zane Mordien Posted November 13, 2025 Report Posted November 13, 2025 There is definitely a mod that saves the bits for you. I havent made a mistake in a long time, so really once you get used to it the mod isn't needed anymore. 2
Maethius Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 The mod gives you a 50/50 chance of recovering a voxel as a nugget of metal. You can re-smelt 20 of them into an ingot as well, I believe (iron requires using the bloomery). Now, it does the same for steel, but I believe you cannot recombine steel nuggets because... well... they don't melt! I admit to using a cheat for these; I enter Creative mode and give myself a steel ingot for every 20 steel nuggets I collect.
