Hezrou Posted November 16, 2025 Report Posted November 16, 2025 Me and 4 friends have been playing on a server and none of us have had an issue until our 5th arrived. We think it might be his PC but we wanted to make sure we were reading all this right. I vote that it is, given the other 4 of us don't have any issues with the current mods we're using. But if it is and it's effecting him, then yeah, we'd prob remove whatever it is. We think it's the base game since he tends to crash during rain storms and lightning strikes, but we're waiting for this forever storm to end to be sure. In the meantime, here's his crash log. Hopefully someone more tech savvy can read this. Professor Dragon Posted November 17, 2025 Report Posted November 17, 2025 (edited) It's probably going to be hard for people on this forum to give advice on just that snippet. A lot of the lines are referencing common files. There is nothing obvious like a ".dll" crash. But the biggest stand out is that there are a lot of mods. That, and it is referencing a lot of things that are graphics related, like particles. Suggestions: Are any of those client mods? Have him join without client mods and see. Disable any mods that you can (take a backup first) and see if the issue goes away. Try taking away half at a time, to reduce the problem space more quickly. Have him set minimum graphics settings and try again. He can load up Settings I think without going into your multi-player world, set Graphics to minimum and try again. Backup your current world, create a new small test world, and see if there are any issues. Other than that, maybe log a request to the Issue Tracker to see if they can provide assistance. I don't know if they will or won't look into a crash such as these, given the number of mods involved, but that would be the last place to go. The first question that they will ask is "Does it happen without mods?" Something like what happened here: https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues/issues/4126 Professor Dragon. Probably also worth checking to make sure his graphics drivers are up to date, as well as just checking his hardware against his friends' hardware. Outside of drivers being out-of-date(or even potentially faulty), or his hardware being too weak for the game setup he's trying to run, it's possible that he might be using a different brand of hardware that isn't playing nicely for whatever reason. 9 hours ago, Professor Dragon said: Other than that, maybe log a request to the Issue Tracker to see if they can provide assistance. The first question that they will ask is "Does it happen without mods?" Something like what happened here: https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues/issues/4126 Reports like this aren't uncommon on the issue tracker, in my experience, but yeah, the first question they will always ask is "Does the issue happen without mods", since mods are really good at causing issues. Checking the mod pages themselves is a good idea as well, since if a mod is having issues there are usually a few comments reporting said issue. 9 hours ago, Professor Dragon said: Are any of those client mods? Have him join without client mods and see. Also worth checking to make sure that everyone is using the same version of mods, and that all mods being used are up-to-date(or otherwise functioning properly on the latest game version). Older mods don't always play nicely with newer game versions(or newer mods), and old mod versions can have bugs that aren't present in the newer mod versions. Case in point--there's been an issue or two reported for the mod I helped develop, that turned out to be the user using an old version of the mod instead of the new(where the issue had been fixed). A couple of other things to check, in addition to what Professor Dragon already suggested: Server logs: Oftentimes, when there's an issue, the server will be spitting out errors. Such errors may or may not cause players to crash, but if the server is spitting out errors around the time that crashes happen, it can help narrow down a cause. My friend has used this method several times to troubleshoot issues with our server. Other clues: Is there some other consistency to these crashes aside from the rainstorms/lightning, and who the crashes happen to? If the crashes only happen in a certain area, it could be related to the weather(especially if it's an area that has a lot of rainfall on average), but there could also be something else there that's overloading the system in that area specifically and causing the crash. 1
Hezrou Posted November 19, 2025 Author Report Posted November 19, 2025 Update: Thank you guys for all the help and feedback. We went through the troubleshooting and yeah, it's just his PC having a moment. RIP Thank you tho 1
