Edited January 6 by Der Waran
Tabbot95 Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 using google translate: Quote I find very little to criticize about the game, except for the world generation. I've already read the roadmap, but this needs to be addressed in the next update. Rivers definitely need to be added, and the mountains need to be reworked so they blend more smoothly into the surrounding landscape and have proper peaks. Currently, the mountains are very steep and often have large, flat areas at the top. Similarly, the forests need to be less hilly, as the slopes are far too steep, and there needs to be more flat terrain. Overall, the game is great, though.
Your points are absolutely valid. As you've already mentioned, the next update will very likely include rivers. Sometimes mountains are very steep, but there are also smoother mountains. It kinda depends on definition about "smooth". I, in my current playthrough, have a pretty large flat area (I'd guess its around 300x150 blocks). So it might be that you were just unlucky with your world generation or your generation settings. Rain is also dependent on your region. It's not global. So it might absolutely be possible that it rains on one side of your house, but the other side is dry. The world is big, so you might have some luck by wandering around for a new location.
LadyWYT Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 Regarding forests with steep hills, those are not unrealistic at all. Same with mountains with flatter tops instead of the classic pointy top. The mountains of the eastern US tend to be like this--very long with flatter tops and their steep slopes are covered in forest. In contrast, the Rockies in the western US tend to have pointed tops, but it depends on which part of the Rockies one looks at as well. Forests don't really need a change, in my opinion, as forests can grow on pretty much any type of terrain as long as there's enough rainfall and it's not too cold. Mountains, I think, just need some more variety; some ranges could be the classic peaks and others could be the long ridges. 1 hour ago, tinyoverflow said: the next update will very likely include rivers. That may be partly why it's taking so long. Rivers, when they are added, are going to majorly overhaul the world generation, so it's incredibly important to get them right the first time.
