How do you get chickens to show generations?

So, I have a world where I play with my brother. Going into the first winter, we had a decent few chickens, and I swear that a few new ones had been born, but none were marked generation 1, or even generation 0. So, I paid attention. Roughly three chicks were soon born, and they grew into pullets. I still was unable to see the generation, but I chalked it up to them not being adults. Now, I have 0 pullets and 0 chickens with a generation marker. Did I do something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Livestock generations should show up automatically in the information panel at the top of the screen. If you don't see any information panel there, try checking your Interface settings to see if it's turned off.

That's what's weird, I do see the panel. It lists stuff like how long until ready to mate for my rams, and it also lists other stats for the chickens, though I can't recall off the top of my head. I included a few screenshots here.

These are the original chickens, I'm guessing? The original wild-caught chickens won't have a generation listed, as they are generation 0--that is, wild. Chicks from the parents should be listed as generation 1 once they hatch.

I don't have a photo, but I had chicks- the ones that grew into pullets. As shown in the photo, I do have the henbaskets, and the eggs hatched, but the chicks didn't show generations. Unless they got eaten, I suppose I didn't count the total amount of chickens, but I'm pretty sure they're all there. And the issue is, I can't tell which ones are the original because of this. I'd have to try with the cleaver after my next batch, and hope one of the gen-2 chickens (if I have any) made a gen three, proving that this is just a visual error. Is there a setting somewhere that decides what is shown in the info box? I might've turned it specifically off, idk.

There isn't, to my knowledge. The only other thing I can think of, outside of a potential bug, is that if you're using mods, there could be mod interference of some sort going on.
