Request for a Writable Journal

I'm relatively new to the game, so I'm not too familiar with what's possible and what's not. Would it be possible to implement a journal you can write in for roleplay purposes? Preferably, you would start the game with it, but a cheap crafting recipe would be okay, too.

Yeah, we've got books:

But you can't craft either scraped hides or leather until you hit at least copper.

Do note that you'll need a quill and ink to write in the books. You can find such a thing as clutter in ruins, but you can also craft your own with some black dye and feathers, I think. To make black dye you will need rusty gears or metal scraps.
