Can someone explain me why saw cuts single logs not whole tree?

Why can't i cut whole tree with saw? Why it doesnt fall like with axe?

Its probably meant as a precision tool for players that want to "customize" their trees.

Axes of the same material are much faster at chopping wooden objects of any kind.

It was almost impossible to build a decent looking treehouse without being able to remove just one log at a time.
