Only Peridotite and Andesite layers!??

I wanted to find slate or shale one of the black rocks to build my cellar with but theres nothing in the ground I walked thousands of blocks in diffrent directions to see if theres something else in the ground and always its these two rocks or just Pridotite till bedrock and it kinda sucks because I need the rock

Usually when going great lengths to find something, finally getting to it thousands of blocks away from my home, I then find another deposit of it disturbingly close to my base. 
 

Have you found any translocators? They usually send me far enough away that the entire rock table changes and I find new rocks (though in my case, Peridotite is the rock I usually struggle finding. Maybe we should swap.)

This is the best way to discover new rock layers, in my experience. While it's not unusual for there to be a handful of rock types within a day's travel of spawn, it's also not unusual to sometimes have nothing but igneous rock for miles either. Translocators can be a little tricky to find, and a little expensive to repair, but will let the player travel miles and miles in a mere instant. That being said, if one is playing without lore content enabled, this isn't going to be an option, in which case the player is going to need to walk(or ride, if they're fortunate enough to have acquired a mount).
