I absolutely cannot get barrels to seal on ANY of my worlds

I have no clue what im doing wrong. The wiki says 50L of water and 64 rot for compost. I double checked that the water levels were right and I had 64 rot. It will not seal. I even broke the barrel and put it back and filled it again. It still won't work. I was having the same trouble on another save I was trying to make leather on and also couldn't get my barrels to ever seal. Do I started a new game only to have the same problem. Am I cursed? What is going on

i'm not sure where you're getting the 50L of water part. try just putting 64 rot in with NO liquid, it should work!

for the leather, i'm not sure, have you done every step of the process? the amount of liquid shouldn't matter for each step, as long as it's the correct one. (barrel of lime/borax, scrape, barrel of weak tannin, barrel of strong tannin.)

Thank you for the water part lol I didn't realize you didn't need water for compost. And as far as the leather I figured out I need hide and not pelt
