Vela Soeterbroek Posted Thursday at 11:37 AM Report Posted Thursday at 11:37 AM (edited) Hello there, I have been struggling to get the latest vintigestory updates to work or even open.. ever sinds v1.22.0-rc.1 came out I haven't been able to open the game anymore. I feel like I have tried everything to get it to work. I followed tons of tutorials. I play on macbook air witch runs on macos Sequoia version 15.7.3 (24G419). I've got NET 8.0 Runtime (v8.0.22) - macOS x64 installed as well. everytime I download vintigestory 1.22.0 and try to start it, it tells me the following: "Vintage Story is damaged and can't be opened. Remove it to the trach can". apparently this issue is common among mac users. So I tried using Terminal. I have tried the following commands: cd/Applications sudo sattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "Vintige Story.app" and: sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "Vintage Story.app" Terminal keeps on telling me that there is "no such file". and that's the end of it. And yes, the game was in my "applicatons" folder. i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.. maybe another command? please someone help me. im scared I won't be able to play the new updates at all.. If there is any information needed that is missing, please let me know! I'd really appreciate some help with this.. Thank you so much in advance! Edited Thursday at 11:47 AM by Vela Soeterbroek
williams_482 Posted Thursday at 11:53 AM Report Posted Thursday at 11:53 AM What do you get when you run ls -la "Vintage Story.app" from your applications folder?
williams_482 Posted Thursday at 11:58 AM Report Posted Thursday at 11:58 AM Run cd Applications first. "cd" is short for "change directory", it moves you into the given directory.
Solution Diff Posted Thursday at 12:11 PM Solution Report Posted Thursday at 12:11 PM Easier way, type just sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine (make sure to include an extra space after "com.apple.quarantine ") and then drag and drop the Vintage Story app into the terminal and hit enter. 1

Looked really promesing for a sec, it did not say that anything was wrong either. but it did not start the game

You got it, no output expected (in the terminal, radio silence generally means that everything went okay) but it clears the flag that prevents you from opening it from the Applications folder.

I reinstalled the Net and it worked! Sorry for bothering you with this but I very much appreciate the help and how you went above and beyond to show me. It means a lot and I am so happy to get introduced to the community this way! 1
