Clams and seashells

Sometimes I find these shells and clams near water.

 

Is there a better way to collect lots of them and are they renewable?

They are not renewable, and the best way to collect them is probably what you do already, walk along the edges of water. The lime they produce is renewable, as it is sold by the trader
