Nickery Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago I understand the necessity of difficulty for the game. However, we should be able to just pick up small to medium animals such as baby animals, chickens, hares and small lambs. To transfer them in between spaces or simply catching them for husbandry, it felt impractical that we couldn't just scoop a chicken off the ground and carry it to the coop. There could also be more tiny mechanics such as generation 0(wild animals) would struggle and come off your hands quite easily so you have to catch it again, meanwhile the higher the generations, they become less hyperactive while being held. 3
Nickery Posted 11 hours ago Author Report Posted 11 hours ago There could also be hidden stats in animals such as friendliness towards human, egg productivity, fertility, meat quantity, appearances, etc. This leads to possible selective breeding so we can pick out better genes for the upcoming generations, maximizing the exploitation on animals.uwu There are just so much potential in animals of this game god I sure love vintage story.
Rainbow Fresh Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago If wild animals struggle it would make sense, I agree. Because sure, you aren't physically prevented from picking up a wild chicken. But also, the wild chicken isn't physically prevented from wildly flapping around, picking your eyes out and scratching you all over. Especially if you try to pick up a wild rooster, considering even domesticated ones murder each other. This would combine the best of both the "realistic" and "balanced" way. Sprinkle in some more in-depth animal behavior where if you pick up baby boar, mommy boar gets really pissed and it would be a solid feature rework. 6
LadyWYT Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago The baby ones I could potentially see scooping up and carrying around without too much trouble...from the baby. But momma critter, and potentially daddy critter too, should absolutely be more aggressive toward an individual messing with baby critter. I think it would also be the kind of thing better to add after a status effect system is in place, so that messing around with wild animals has some higher stakes. Absolutely no one is going to be afraid of a chicken in the game, but if said chicken can give you some scratches, which then get infected, then you might be more inclined to use a trap rather than your hands. 3
sleeves Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago I think this could be balanced by treating small animals like a hot crucible. If you carry them without gloves, they regularly bite you, dealing a little damage and escaping your grip. As mentioned, chickens would probably be a little safer. On the opposite end, wolf pups should probably deal extra damage. 2
