Can't trade with traders, not sure if im doing something wrong

A trader was selling 6 linen sacks for 2 gears each, I had 10 gears but I couldn't buy any of them? I tried both right clicking and left clicking on the linen sacks, I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong or if it's a weird bug. It isn't just that specific trader, I haven't been able to trade with any other trader either.

You on 1.22.4 or 1.22.5?

1.22.4 broke traders, 1.22.5 fixed them.
