Playing LAN multiplayer with my sister, suddenly whenever we break blocks the dropped block item doesn't fall to the ground, it just floats in the air. This is especially annoying trying to chop trees. Closing and re-opening the world or game doesn't fix it. Does anyone know what might fix it? We have some mods, but this issue wasn't happening through several weeks of playing this world and it suddenly happened mid-session several hours in, so I'm unsure what caused it.

It happens when the connection on the pc to the server isnt too great. Yes, I agree its annoying, but its a known visual bug. Same with dropped items that was picked up, and yet still sitting on the ground. It resolves itself by logging out and in.

Logging out and in didn't solve it. Is it a visual bug if I can't collect the items from where they should fall to? It's not like just the models are in the air, to collect the items I have to tower up to reach them.

I had those issues with server connection being lost or interrupted and logging off and in again did not fix it for me either, well the blocks would go away but as soon as I started breaking stuff again the issue would come back. It was one of the mods I was using causing it, unfortunately I can't remember which one it was, such a long time ago.  My best guess would be to remove or roll back the last mod you updated or installed.

Or wait and see if someone else has a better cure or way to diagnose it (I'm definitely not an expert on the matter).

For me its mostly due to poor connection to server I am on, and on really bad days, i can leave a string of blocks behind me thats floating in mid air after i broke them.

You run into it in single player to for some reason, I really don't know how it works, I guess we are our own servers?. The alert pops up in the top right of the screen about the server connection, sometimes the game would even crash. I think we are talking about the same thing, it looks like blocks being left behind like my inventory was full, and it wasn't. Now the bouncing block thing still happened once in a while but not very often.

I play on a server in the US, and the networks in South Africa is bad enough that in the evenings, I'm literally hopping between a fiber line, Vodacom, and MTN, looking for a network that's deceit enough that I can play, and not suffer through massive delays in chats, and anything I do.
