So, I was just wondering, what if I were to change the default texture for the player? Would it break the game? Would I need to reinstall? I don't want to go messing with stuff if it is going to ruin my game.

Oh don't worry, the game is built with modding in mind.

• You can change pretty much anything you want in the assets folder. If you did something game breaking then the game will usually tell you whats wrong in the log files (client-main.txt and server-main.txt)
• If you can't fix it, you can always just install the same version of the game again to reset it to the original state. You won't loose your savegames with a reinstall.
• In that regard, be aware that if you change the original files, installing an update will remove your changes, so ideally you would wan't to add it as a mod / asset pack to the game so the changes are not lost

However, regarding the player texture in particular - these changes would apply to your character and every other character in multiplayer, as version 1.4.9.3 does not keep separate player textures for players. For the upcoming version 1.5.0 i just completed basic player customization by letting you choose from a dozen of different dress pieces, which also works in multiplayer
