Pamela
Is a fence required to domesticate animals?? I have dug out around a ruin and have several sheep, which I'm feeding. Will they become domesticated, or do I need to put in a fence??
Soliton
It is my experience that animals will wander off (despawn?) if you don't have a fence. The only benefit that I am aware of for domestication is that you can use a cleaver on animals that have 3 our more generations. Please let me know if you have had a contrary experience as I am still learning about animal husbandry mechanics.
Saricane
No, I don't think so. The only mandatory device is the trough. You can perfectly roll the domestication process with your animals in a pit, you just have to give them a trough and fill it. I even noticed that animals partially domesticated who manage to escape from their yard don't flee but stay around, probably attracted by the trough.
