Mods for my single player game interfering with multiplayer?

My friend setup a server for us to play with specific mods for our game.  I am guessing for my single player world not on the server those mods won't interfere with the multiplayer? Probably the noob question of the day.

If you want to use different mods (or no mods at all) in different worlds, then you need to toggle them on/off in the mod manager in the main menu before joining those worlds.
