change propick mode ?

I usually have node search mode turned on but accidentally left it off for one of my worlds, and I can't figure out how to change it. didn't see anything in the lists of server or client commands, nor in the wiki entry for mining (although that does have a command for changing the radius). does anyone know if it's possible ?
