  1. Thin end of the wedge, we manage to get rid of a stupid capability only to try and re-introduce it through the back door. People will just have to learn to be more deliberate and forward thinking when planting cuttings, it's not that difficult. It's already what we have to do with Fruit Trees.
  2. For a brief moment there was hope. Then I discovered the spoiler box...
  3. There is plenty of pushback, it's just that most of us don't feel the need to occupy a full screen of text to express it. Also quoting a negatively themed Discord thread, where a bunch of Min-Maxers swarm in to cry about the changes is not really a representative sample of the Vintage Story 'Community'. After about 5000+ words across multiple posts on the topic of how bad the 1.22 Berry bushes are, that's the conclusion we're expected to believe?
  4. Why did I know you were going to be the first to post in this thread! Regarding the Berry bushes they're only complex if you start to 'Farm' them, otherwise the Wild bushes will still be in place providing a regular basic food source for a new player. It'll just mean every few days you'll have to do some running around. I think the main benefit of the new system is that it prevents 'fire & forget' planting of cuttings. Which is basically what we've had until now, by being allowed to relocate entire vineyards of fully formed bushes en masse that required zero maintenance. Up-front costs would do little to change that dynamic, except perhaps delay it a while. That could change in the future, but are you suggesting more complexity? I don't see a way around this given the current storage system. Maybe if in the future the game moves toward a system of Max weight storage rather than the current Slot based storage system it would enable a greater amount of 'light weight' items like cuttings to be carried.
  5. Fruit Tree's are an anti speed-running mechanic. Yes let's just throw the attempt to simulate Vernalization straight out the window.
  6. Perhaps if the ability to take new cuttings was restricted to just being from Wild bushes, it would better promote going down the fertilization route rather than just yearly re-planting of cuttings from existing planted stock.
  7. Really liking the look of the new berry bush mechanics. Should help to stop the ridiculous early game Berry bush Apocalypse on multiplayer servers, where every bush for 1000+ blocks around spawn is ripped up and then hoarded behind protected Land Claims. Because of this tactic, it can make getting started very difficult for players who join later than the initial group. Given the extra applications of Berries (current & possible future) besides simple nutrition, it was long overdue that they should require a bit more maintenance if they're going to be grown en masse vineyard style rather than left in the wild.
  8. Think you're playing a bit fast and loose with the word "Lightly" there m8, I just tried to connect and it said I needed to download 32 Mods!
  9. Unless you're always online together at the same time, then people who are occasionally offline will effectively "skip" a meal requirement. But 30 day months are pretty tough even for a server, 20 day is a good compromise.
  10. And whilst doing that you're effectively standing still for a few seconds, whilst the Bowtorns 2 other friends will bullseye you with their 100% accuracy.
  11. I'm usually standing still when they first creep up and fire at me, that's part of the problem.
  12. I would be surprised if most of the dedicated Hytale followers weren't already playing Vintage Story anyway. As for the ones that showed a more casual interest, perhaps not.
  13. They certainly are way too bright at the moment and I would prefer them to go back to pre-update levels, but I'm willing to accept some increase to how they were before. On a wider note does anybody know if we're going to get another patch anytime soon, or have we now got to wait for 1.21?
  14. I imagine your idea about the torches would be difficult to configure when making multiple batches of them, but as for Lanterns yes some sort of adjustment would be an interesting addition.
  15. Not really seeing any discussion of this aspect of the latest update, but for me they've turned the brightness up way too far. I guess the intent was to reduce the occurance of dark patches/corners etc, but the new levels seem to erase any subtlelty to torch light arrangements. With the immediate surrounding blocks just getting an unrealistic blast of yellow/orange light that does not compliment the textures at all. I'd prefer if it went back to how it was before, but at the very least I think it definately needs to be dialled back a bit. What does everyone else think?
  16. Installed 1.20.9 an hour ago, loaded my current save game where the in game time was about 3:00am and Temporal conditions were "Low". In less than a minute a Rift had appeared 30 blocks away which then spawned 3 Bowtorns, 1 shiver and several drifters. Later on after sunrise I saw at least 1 shiver spawn in broad daylight. Plus I don't like the effect of this change in the latest update: I think they've gone too far with it, blocks are overly bright now with a very artificial looking yellow/orange glow about them. Change it back to how it was before or at least dial it back a bit please.
  17. The amount of drifters were getting ridiculous, making it virtually impossible to work outside your base most nights. It's like pre 1.20.6 updates were only tested by people who always sleep through the night until dawn.
  18. Can't help but smile at people lining up on this thread with suggestions of what else to do whilst waiting for a Temporal Storm to pass. As a designer I would take a long hard look at a game feature that players are continually inventing new ways of ignoring.
  19. Sounds like you've just made the case for turning them off!
  20. That's a good idea, maybe it could look like you're under a protective force field dome but can still see the storm going on outside of it.
  21. I'm kind of on the fence regarding this issue, I want to play the game with as many features enabled and to experience all of the Lore. But the way Storms currently operate feels like it's just a irritating 10 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Thanks to an earlier post I've now turned down the strength and frequency of the storms and I'll see how I get on with that. But unless something changes in future updates I may also switch them off altogether.
  22. Unfortunately it's a Catch 22 situation, the in-game updater can only be permanently fixed by installing a new updated version.
  23. The amount of food you'll nead to pre-cook depends on what time of year this trip is taking place? If it's between May - September you should be able to almost entirely live off berry bushes for the journey, as it's unexplored territory they'll mostly be fully stocked. The food problems will only start once you reach your destination and will depend on local resources and how long you plan to stay there.
  24. I would be in favour of introducing a new class of drifter that can break wood/soil defences, which would force the player to not just "sit out" all night attacks. However they would need to appear in limited numbers and be made easily identifiable, so that the player could target this "Demolition Class" drifter and nutralise the threat without neccessarily taking on the entire mob.
