The snow goggles are a cosmetic item in-game, but considering how blindingly bright the snow can get, I think it would be a cool addition if they could also be worn in the head armour slot to dim the screen's brightness as well as being able to be worn in the mask slot purely for vanity. To account for this new use, maybe make them sold by Survival Goods traders. I'd upload an image of real life Inuit snow goggles, but my upload size is still for whatever reason capped at 14.5kb, so if you'd like to see what the snow goggles are based off of, you can just Google that.

Why doesn't alcohol provide satiation when your hunger bar is full?
ifoz replied to BudgetLimeSoda's topic in Discussion
I would love to see fancy bottles and scroll racks able to be used to hold them. It would also be cool if the Artistic Bottle could hold alcohol. It sits on the counter in my tavern, and I'd love to have it actually contain some liquid. I really like this idea, kind of like how you can wax cheese, you could bottle and cork alcohol. -
Perhaps you could be able to craft clutter beds with linen to slightly brighten the colour of the sheets (they are now clean) and make them able to be used with stats the same as the wooden bed. I get that the aged wooden bed was added before the clutter beds, but I mean come on, it doesn't even have a pillow! Plus, I always find it with mould on the surrounding blocks, which makes it even grosser.

It never used to be like this, 14.5kb is such a small size that I can't upload any images unless they're super compressed into a mess of pixels. Does anyone know if I have messed up a setting or something? It used to be around 600kb, and now it's 14.5kb.

I know this is a suggestion mostly for immersion purposes, but it always annoys me that you cannot sleep in the clutter beds. Maybe it would be game-breaking if it was as 9.5 hours like the aged wooden bed, but it could be good it was 7 hours like a straw bed, or maybe 7.5 because the straw bed is easier to obtain. Either that or you could lie in them without actually falling asleep. Just a little thing for immersion. Plus, that one with the quilt looks pretty comfy compared to the aged wooden bed.

This is a modded thing, drifters normally cannot open doors or gates in the vanilla game.

I think this game probably handles hunger the best out of any survival game that I have played, aside from maybe Rain World, though hunger is a main gameplay loop in that game so that's different since it is a core aspect of that game. Having the health bonus for a varied diet is a really nice way to add variety to a hunger system, and is something that I really like in this game. The fact you may only have to eat maybe two or three times per in-game day is also SO much better than Minecraft, wherein you need to eat every time you sprint for ten seconds. It makes cooking meals feel interesting and immersive, rather than an irritating and meaningless slowdown to gameplay.

Imagine sitting in a design meeting and someone goes "Hey! Let's punish the players for playing the game and instead force them to right click a bed every so often!" It's kind of how hunger works in that certain other block game too. "Let's punish the player for not stopping and holding right click every two minutes!" I really don't like whatever this type of game design is called.. Agreed. Also, isn't it canon that Seraphs don't need to sleep?

I'm a huge fan of putting logs into crates since they normally only stack to 16 and can quickly clutter regular chests. Still, a menu would be appreciated.

Yeah, our server is completely vanilla, so this slab must be in the base game. That's what I thought too, I know he did some TerrafirmaCraft stuff a while back. It's like how the Vintage Beef item is a reference to the youtuber of the same name.

So a friend of mine found the Etho Slab on our server. Apparently this thing is a one in a million drop from mining clay, but I cannot find much about it when I look it up, so it does not appear to be well-documented. Here are some screenshots of it. --- Ok, so for some reason the forums are being strange and I can't upload any images larger than 74kb, so all I can do is upload this one. I will try and edit this post later to add more. ---

As cool as this would be, I would rather such behaviour reserved for an extremely uncommon enemy. Having to deal with a common enemy type stalking you at night would be scary at first, but could quickly become annoying and repetitive. Reserving this behaviour for a very rare enemy would add to the tension of being out at night - it probably isn't there, but can you really be sure? Perhaps if you stability is low enough you could start seeing glimpses of it around you too, even if it isn't there.

You can already do this with and clothing with "tattered" specifically in the name. (NOT in terms of durability). That is: -Tattered linen shirt -Tattered crimson tunic -Tattered peasant gown Surprisingly not the torn riding pants, though I do like the purple colour they have. I wish there was a full-length version, I would totally wear those.

Who knows, he does shrink into the distance once the temporal storms end!

These are all so cool!! I'll have to look into making my own chair designs soon, I just finished the exterior of a tavern that I am making and intend to do custom chiselled tables and chairs inside. These are definitely really nice inspiration!

All I can hope for is that if factions are added and form an overarching plot between groups, that the player never becomes some kind of leader or sole hero. I really don't want another generic 'prophesised hero' plot here! This game has so much roleplay potential and unique and interesting lore that it would be such a waste to just say "oh ok you are now the leader of the Falx faction, you are also the legendary hero who will save the world from the Rust and nobody but you can do it." Certainly there could be an ending where you help Falx and his allies destroy the Rust, but I really don't think the player should be the legendary hero of the charge against the Rust unless they have to do some crazy optional stuff to earn such a title.

I think this whole class idea is really creative and cool, but I just thought I would chip in here about the first aid kit only being usable on other players. If someone was playing Monk in singleplayer, this would mean that their whole exclusive crafting recipe is useless. I think the shift rightclick idea is the way to go.
-
While I do really like this idea, I think only having one antagonistic faction may be a bad idea. In a game as endlessly open as VS, I think that any factions or groups added to the story need to allow the player to join them. (You should only be able to choose one to join though, or else we would end up like Skyrim guilds). The 'antagonistic' faction should be the one that does not align with your views as a player. Perhaps you are playing a character who wants the Rust to spread, so your antagonistic faction could be Falx himself. Instead of being a linear story with a set antagonistic group, I think it would be a good design decision to let the player play their own part in the larger story by choosing who they ally themselves with. That being said, a Rust cult would be a really cool idea for a potential future faction!

I know this is a really weird and niche suggestion that probably only I will want, but hear me out. I would really like to see a pair of suspenders like the Clockmaker Shirt has, but as a standalone accessory. This way you could match them with any shirt instead of only one. I think they look really cool on the Clockmaker, and would like to pair them with other clothing. Maybe make them sold by Clothing Traders so that all classes can obtain and wear them. Does anyone else care about this or is it only me?

Now that you say it, there is a definite similarity! Imagine living inside of Dave's body module. What a cozy and definitely not cramped way to set up a mobile base. "Who needs an elk or a ship when you can own your very own Dave! Comes with free constant temporal storms!"
-
Aye, I have heard this tall tale too. My associates at the Limwich Guild of Temporology and Other Such Sciences and I aspire to test this myth soon, and we shall report back here with any notable results. This is actually a really cool theory, and is something that I was thinking of too considering we haven't seen the Salvation Engine yet in the game. I mean, it could be part of a future story location, but the reveal of it being Dave could be really interesting. In regards to your theory of him being a big "microphone", I think this fits too. A large device sent out to collect and record data from the world, or potentially sent into the Rust World intentionally for the same purpose. I suppose that would make him a... 'macrophone'. Badum-tss. Considering his height, if this is indeed his purpose, perhaps he also records meteorological data as well as sound and terrain, if his limbs map the world he walks on. A gigantic Google Maps car in a way, except using his limbs' sense of touch instead of a camera.

We all know and love our good giraffe friend Dave the Thunder Warden, but just exactly what is he and how does he fit into the lore? Looking at Dave, he looks mechanical to me. Rivets dot his limbs and his back is coated with spines that look like those of the resonators and the Chamber in the Archives, presumably used for wirelessly sending and receiving sound waves or other such pulses of data. Did Jonas build him too? Is Dave a giant, mobile sound and communication device? Do the temporal storms follow him around, and they hit us when he graces us with his presence, or does he follow them around instead? Perhaps he is like a gigantic lightning rod, channelling temporal storms around him. Or is it that he merely becomes visible when in a temporally low state? Is he friendly or hostile to Seraphs? We never get close enough to him to find out. Reportedly a Seraph once got close enough to touch him, but all that they found of the poor soul was a pile of charred, flickering ashes. Granted, I heard that one from Crazy Pete down at the Dancing Drifter Tavern during happy hour, so I don't know how reliable it is. Another story I heard was of the rumoured emergence of a cult-like group, the Thunder Apostles, based in the Chapel of Dave, though I don't yet know much about it. Apparently they go around and hunt for rifts before standing in them to greet their master, though it sounds so ridiculous that I almost doubt it's existence. ------ Does anyone have any theories on what exactly Dave is? Note the resonator-esq spines and jagged build. If you can see him up close, you can notice his rivets. He definitely looks mechanical to me.

As far as I know, this still works in the latest version. I used it only a few days ago!

Make sure that you are using the right IP address. If you are hosting on the internet, make sure that you give your friends the internet IP address that the game shows you in the pause screen, not your local network IP. Make sure that all of your friends and yourself let Vintage Story.exe through your firewalls. You can check this in Windows Defender if you are playing on Windows. Other than that, I don't really know what further advice I can offer. I hope that this helps!

In the latest multiplayer world that my friends and I are doing, we have all split off from each other and are making our own little towns. Since I'm playing Malefactor, I have kind of become the builder, with my town currently having the most infrastructure. Our 'rough mercenary' blackguard lives a strange life in his restored ruined cathedral, called the 'Chapel of Dave' Initially my world had the most boring and basic spawn (gravel plains) but journeying North, I found a really cool mountainous limestone area that I based my town in. I recommend just going exploring to find somewhere to base that fits your aesthetic preferences, though you could always try looking for a new seed. At least you know where bauxite is! This is a really cool idea. I like it when games offer the opportunity to do stuff like this! Getting some extra unique dialogue from say, meeting Jonas and not immediately being recognisable as a Seraph could be quite funny. Or if you wore only your starting class clothing, he might recognise you straight away instead of having to take a moment.
