  1. ok, have you tried to change keyboard control in VS ?

I've redesigned the trap a little bit: - crawling drifters don't fall into 1 block wide pit - I've extended top drop space and drop shaft to 2 blocks wide and add two water sources to cover the bottom (see screen); This design did have problem: drifters don't fall over edge to the deep pit - they moved around on the edge. - so I redesigned it once more: I have removed all floor and extend fall pit to the size 5x5. Another problem: drifters aren't lured to me when I'm standing in glass "storm proof" cage. It seems they don't see me at the distance. Only if drfiter is very near it see me, walk to me and fall down. So finally the trap doesn't work. The number of fallen drifters is very low and they are wandering top spawning platform all the time. Any idea why they don't see me ??? Any hint ???
  3. I think it's a problem of your keyboard layout. Do you use Windows? Change your keyboard layout to the right one and all keys will be correct ones...

  5. @Thorfinn The rift is unstable and it can appear and disappear. So it's near impossible to position my trap to be placed near the rift. Thats why I'll build my trap for use during storm or during normal play without storm. I want to maximize traps yield so I'll probably build the trap underground for spawning higher tier drifters. I'll use falling trap construction to filter lower tiers drifters (35 blocks tall fall kills all but two heads/corrupt/nightmare ones). This determines spawning platform at high about 40-50. Construction example see link below... I only wonder how to filter live drifters from dead ones at the bottom of the pit... Maybe I can stand near falling point and lure live ones to me. My advantage is we're playing two players together (my wife ! yes they are such marvelous wiwes) so we can operate some complicated processes together (one player can stand by spawning platform to generate drifters; and second player can kill them at the bottom of the pit). @Snakeshoes : Interesting construction. However I'll go a way of falling trap:
  6. I've covered part of the cave opened to sky with granite rocks in creative to create closed cave. However the light level inside the cave below newly created "ceiling" isn't near zero. It's still very high like under opened sky. I've tried few commands like "./debug rc" but no success. Does anybody know how to correct light level under artificially created ceilings ???

  8. I'd like to build Drifters Trap. What about drifter spawning rules from this point of view ? - should I fill spaces (caves, etc.) around trap to avoid drifter spawning there (and probably lowering spawn amount in the trap) ? - what's max spawning distance of drifters to the player ? - will dead drifter has an effect of spawning new one (i.e. lowering of a number of live drifters raise probability of spawning new one)? - other thoughs / tips-tricks ?
  9. I've bought new license with my forum account and it works now. My account has proper category "Vintarian". I think the problem with my old license was because it was bought as a gift by another person i.e. by another account.
  10. Thread necromancy: I'd like to buy another VS licence. I'd even like to buy support pack. However I'd like to know how to do it to have linked my forum account to my bought licence and have proper forum category.
  11. hi, I've tried to use world edit commands a lot last few weeks. Especially mcopy/mpaste/mexc etc.... I've fonud that world edit operations have some limits. You can export some big part of the world (for example 100 x 100 height 150) with "/we mexc [name]" command. You can upload this file to server and use world edit menu command for paste this file. However paste operation is completed with errors - some border parts of pasted world part are missing. Very small world parts are copy/pasted without problems (data file has max 20 MB). Bigger parts (like 100x100 height 150; file size > 20-30 MB) are problematic. Does anybody know the reason? Does VS have some limits for world edit operations in settings? Is it a problem od server memory ? I've found that the problem isn't the size of pasted world part but real size of the file. I can copy big part of the world made mostly of air => file size is small. Bit every real cube counts. Even small part of the world but full of real cubes means big file size. Any help? Idea?
  12. hi, I've made some huge terrain changes in creative: removing terrain below standard water level, and fill all the space with water. However the underwater surface keeps lighten like areas above water level. Underwater areas are normally very dark. How to correct lightning ???
  13. Thread necromancy..... I was very excited to see "Toggle sprint" option in settings. However it's not what I though. "Toggle sprint" key activates sprint when pressed with walk key and can be released while sprint is active until you release walk key. VS dev guys !!!!!! Sprint is the most used function when playing your game (I think so). And ergonomy rules says what? Most used functions should be accessible by simple operation. Why "Sprint-shift" key? WHY ??? Can you PLEEEEEEASE !!! add option that "Sprint-shift" key is "Walk-shift" key ??? So if I press and hold walk forward I sprint, and to walk only is necessary to use "Walk-shift" modificator key??? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   14. Changing or improving terrain generator does have one major PROBLEM: it breaks continuity of terrain. We do have stable many years living server with a lot of players. Changing terrain generator like now with 1.18 means game map reset and a lot of work to continue and keep players. We've made it now. It was really huge amount of work. And should we expect another generator reset next upgrade ??? This is ridiculous. I think the change of map generator should be game upgrade itself (no other changes) and should be very well tested and proven to avoid corrections in another upgrade (because of that PROBLEM). Geometric terrain forms are terrible, horrible. And if we'll get another generator upgrade next version, I'll be angry. I really love Vintage Story but I should say I think Tyron and team have underestimated terrain generator change complexity....
  15. No, that means mountains cutted to sharp tall pieces, where is not much space between pieces (no valley, not even space to walk between them).
  16. I definitely don't think 1.18 is a worldgen letdown. Upheaven and other features made terrain more realistic. I only listed some issues that aren't very well made: - a lot of shattered mountains (it seems they are everywhere) - some geometrically shaped hills missing unevenness/irregularity (see images) - huge long caves missing (for me) very hard to find place I'd like to settle down.
  17. I was in doubt a long time whether publish it or not. One reason is overall positive reactions to new version. The second reason is I don't want to be much negative about VS cos I highly appreciate Tyron and others developers work. I'm a long time player of VS (our 15000 hours MP world). I've found a lot of fabulous places, amazing mountains including huge caves, flooded valleys, great landscapes. I play new 1.18 RC. I've played it a lot of hours in creative mode using fast fly speed to see a much as possible landscape in a short time. And I should say I'm disappointed: - landscape forms are very clean mathematical geometry like; it seems like charts / graphs; terrain is missing some unevenness/irregularities; more and more I've found these I'm more and more frustrated; - landscape is missing solid/undivided mountains (many of them are cut to "pieces"); if some is solid/uncut they are missing caves; - landscape is missing huge interesting caves; I've uploaded some examples to demonstrate my findings: - new generator (geometric shapes of landscape) https://we.tl/t-NqOtekQrh7 - old generator (fabulous places in old version, that I'm not able to find similar ones in new version) https://we.tl/t-RXkysUUSav I'd like to see that I'm wrong and new terrain generator can produce amazing places like in old generator.   18. I play new 1.18 VS. It has a lot of great new features. However it seems to me that terrain generator has a problem with regular mathematic shapes. Landscape sometimes looks like a mathematic charts/graphs, pure geometric shapes. And everything is covered by soil. It seems weird, like no real landscape.   20. Amazing - so much new features !!! Will The first main story event. be only single structure/event in whole world ? So only for the first player that gets to the structure and plays it ?

    What about 1.18?

    Seems very promising. However I'd like to see some improvements of claiming system (for example: when listing claims the game shows all claims not only gamers ones, and listing doesn't have names of claims but only indexes; its very very bad; we play multiplayer and claiming system really need some improvements to be simple and very usable)....

  23. We play on our server MP Vintage story. We all can use lantern in the second hand to lit underground. It has stopped functioning suddently for one of us. Day light is ok, landscape is properly lit even during night. But as soon as he dives underground he doesn't see anything with lantern in hand. If I stay by him with my lantern (and I can see lit surrounding) he has black screen and he see nothing. He tried to restart VS, restart computer, reset Graphics settings, use another lantern. Any hint ? Help?
  24. yes, the problem with drinking 1L of milk is annoying. I do have 10L of milk in bucket. Putting milk into barrel put only 9L of milk (I probably drink 1 L). I think VS doesn't distinguish drinking from puuting in barel when Rclick on barrel with bucket...
  25. Exactly described new situation. One major problem is you lost the lantern in case of the death. You can use torches of course but main inventory bar is getting more and more filled (shield or lantern, torches, spear, ...) and its managing starts to be frustrating.
