  1. We are getting ready to switch to the 1.21.0. If all goes well, i think we will make the jump in one, two, max. three days from now. Some players also established the first more serious RP faction, alongside another slightly less serious. So RP is now a thing on the server, and i hope we soon see more of that and more factions to emerge too. That said, nobody is forced into RP, and any who would not wish to participate can still coexist with the others as before. All seems fine for now.
  2. I do not have a clue if there is some command for exporting the inventory into some file, and later importing it. But i would try to use WorldEdit export/import commands. You can try placing a big chest/trunk and put all inventory inside. Then make selection using the World Edit, and export it into a JSON file. Then you can import that chest (including everything it has inside) on your new world. And of course, you would need to do this for every player (or place chests for all players, let them fill those, then export them all in one go). Obviously, this is one super clunky solution, but if nobody comes with a better idea, maybe this is better than nothing.
  3. My Linux days are long gone (though likely to return soon), so while i cannot help you, i think others in our Discord can. I know there are at least 3 people who run the game on Linux, and i don't think they would refuse to help if you ask. So, if you are still struggling with it, feel free to join and ask. Just please be patient if you wouldn't get access to all channels right after joining. I assign the necessary role manually, so if i am not there, you may need to wait. It doesn't happen often, that somebody would have to wait a long time, but it can, so don't let that discourage you.
  4. Sure, no rush. Who knows, maybe by the time you make up your mind, we'll be already running the 1.21 stable, which may save you some hassle :-D
  5. Aaah, so the problem is that you do not have a discord at all? Well, i think we can make an exception, but i think it may be even more inconvenient for you than for me. Obviously, managing the server is not my "job", i do it in free time, and it takes a lot of time as is, even now, and i expect we are about to get even more players, which will add more questions i need to answer and problems to solve... Point being: i won't be able to engage the same way here, i can post the most important info or changes, but anybody not on the Discord will be likely significantly behind what is going on with the server. So, it would have to be largely up to you, to ask here if you run into problems, and then i am afraid wait patiently for my reply which may take some time (i tend to keep checkign the forums frequently, but i cannot guarantee to keep doing that all the time). So, if you want to give it a try, we can see how that goes.
  6. You do not need to engage in any conversations on the Discord. But you need to stay a member of the discord, because it also helps me track who is whitelisted, who is not, etc. If you leave the discord, you will be removed from the whitelist, because i don't want the server to become a mess where i don't know who's who and what's what. Discord makes a lot of things easier for me.
  7. Yes. The server is not publicly listed, so you need to know the host address (which you will find in the Discord). Also, the server is also using a whitelist, so you need to get whitelisted (post your player name in the relevant channel on the Discord). And you need to stay on the Discord - we use it to communicate changes, talk mods and server configs, run polls regarding mods to add, discuss and decide how the server should be, help with issues, etc. etc. It would be EXTREMELY impractical to just join the server without also joining the Discord too.
  8. A little update... We have 18 members now, which isn't many, but we are already seeing some groups being formed. One group is building a castle up north, trying to rebuild the Forlorn Hope knights order. Call me cynical, but i think they are just about to repeat the history. Also, i don't mean to smear their reputation before they even got one, but last time i was there... i'll be honest, it seemed more like a cult than a knightly order. Or maybe it's just me, not knowing how a knightly order looks like. I saw people working hard under a scorching sun, building walls and fortifications, barely allowed to have any breaks, and i didn't see any water guy to serve refreshments to the workers. There was a few so called knights in shiny armor, strutting around like peacocks and shouting orders at the poor laborers. One of them, i think, was trying to impress me, kept wearing some stolen crown as if he would be the king, talking eloquently like a noble, but he reminded me of a robber's baron more than anything else. I could be wrong, but something is fishy about these knights... even the castle is called "Fishman's Castle"! So, i don't know... be careful if you go there. Second is the Bald Hill village. The village got it's name after a forest fire which devastated a large swath of forest on a nearby hill. This was the first settlement established on this world, and it isn't far from the main spawn, so it is usually the first stop for many newcomers. But lately, it seems to me, people come and go. Some people even left to join that Forlorn Hope "order", and i hear at least one more intends to do the same in near future. So the village is always looking for new people, somebody to run the local inn, etc. The village is rather basic and a bit chaotic, clearly showing there was no planning involved in the early stages. It was also built on top of some church ruins, which are still there, towering above as a sad and eerie reminder of the past glory. The tavern, or inn (it has only one room for rent, that i saw) looks nice, but that's about all the good stuff i can say about this village. One more thing! They have a bear in a cage there, i guess as an attraction. Don't worry, they take a good care of it, feeding it... which... now that i think about that, i wonder.. - did all those people really left to join the Forlorn Hope? or is perhaps something more sinister taking place here? So, as you can see, there aren't any good options. There was a third place, which was an old, decrepit, broken village, run by a loner who mostly kept to himself. But that is gone... one day it just went POOF! and was gone, no trace of it left, as if it was never there. Maybe some temporal disaster took place there, maybe the village still exists in some other world, some other dimension perhaps? Who can say... It will likely remain a mystery forever.
  9. The button called "Client Area" at the top of the page.
  10. I see. Welcome, and sorry if you had to wait a little longer, i handle the Discord roles assignments manually and i am not always there.
  11. No matter what? What if you make the roof 2 block thick? or 3 blocks? ...if a lightning hits the surface that has a cave below, do i get hit by the lightning if i am in the cave? How far down does the lightning go after it hits something? All the way to the mantle? or is there some limit?
  12. You sound chill, maybe chill enough for Temporally Stable
  13. Player count slowly raising, we have 12 players now, hopefully the trend continues. Some server settings were changed (no "more sideways soil instability", which makes me sad, but the people have spoken - see... this is why we need more people, so we can start a new vote and end this new reign of stable dirt). Regarding the population... at the beginning, everybody was clumped roughly at the same area, but it didn't took long until two separate settlements were established, and third one is in process of... well, nobody knows really what's going in the third one. The third one is weird. It was started by who appears to be some strange hermit, who moved into a decrepit old abandoned village and instead of rebuilding it, he seems to be doing everything he can to discourage anybody from even visiting the place. We only just heard from a wandering trader who dared venture there, and while the business transaction itself was a great success, hospitality-wise his short stay left a lot to be desired. Some travelers also reported they saw some strange ominous lights above that village, and somehow it looked even more abandoned and cursed than it used to. But other than that it was a smooth sailing so far.
  14. I am on 1.20.0-rc.4, but also using Plains and Valleys, Fields and Plateaus, and RiverGen. I do not know how much, or if at all, does any of those mods influence the distribution of various deposits. We are in temperate area of the world and... - Red Clay is very often found on the surface - seems especially frequent on flat surfaces and surfaces only sparsely populated by trees if at all ('cause trees don't like to grow in a clay). - Blue Clay has a much smaller presence, but that may be because it tends to sit slightly lower (seems at least one, or a few layers of dirt or what have you) - which may be the reason, why i usually see it in rivers (if RiverGen doesn't put it there, at least it exposes it when it creates the river). - Fire Clay? Yes, i heard talks of this mythical creature, but never saw it myself, nor do i know of anybody who did. But i never tried to find it. Since i heard that it now sits somewhere alongside the iron (or coal? not sure what type, or if true), i figure it's easier to just make it. If i ever stumble on it by accident, that will be nice, but i am not going to look for it.
  15. Depends on the server specs, server settings, player settings (namely view distance), and how are the players spread out and how much they are moving into undiscovered parts of the map forcing server to generate new chunks and send the data to player(s). If you'd have 40 players using maxed out view distance of 1536 blocks (without server limiting it to something lower), and most players would be spread out all over the world and exploring a lot, then it will put way more strain on the server than if those players would not be exploring that much, and/or not be spread out that much, and/or using much lower view distance. If the server would struggle to keep up, players could experience some stuttering and lag. I do not know whether it would also result in consistent low FPS (beside the stuttering).
  16. I use default settings for: - Temporal storms: Approx. every 10-20 days, increase strength/frequency by 10% each time, capped at 100% - Temporal storm length: Normal (100%) but then i allow sleeping during storms: - Sleeping during temporal storms: Allowed Seems fine to me this way as long as there aren't too many people on the server so they can all go sleep if somebody asks nicely in the chat. And if they can't organize to sleep through it, then those who can't handle being outside can just crawl into some hole and wait it out. The moment you build a shelter, house, etc., Storms are not really a problem, unless you want them to be and go outside. If you are starting the game for the first time, i would recommend to stick to defaults. That way you can see for yourself how it is.
  17. You can make the wireframe block selection thicker or change its color. Look into Settings -> Accessibility
  18. Of course that depends on the implementation in VS - which i know nothing about. For example, i remember Minecraft had a slider for this (might have been from mod, i don't remember) and it had significant performance impact (of course that depends on the HW - it was long time ago), maybe VS handles this much better, maybe not, i do not know. But performance is really not the issue here (not for me at least, thankfully). A shimmering bush of 1-3 pixels in size is simply annoying, it doesn't improve visuals, it worsens them. And when it comes to some "boundary"... again, way back when in MC, there was no issue with that, because that boundary was still enough far away to be practically unnoticeable. I wasn't suggesting people should be forced to use this slider, or to set it to %50 of their view distance to create annoying visible boundary.
  19. I am a bit busy with my recently started server, but maybe i can squeeze it into my schedule.
  20. A new server. Almost no players yet We do have some players (36). Currently running 1.21.0-rc6 while waiting for 1.21 stable release, and deciding what mods to use, world settings, etc. (open to potential players feedback). 2025-09-10: server switched to 1.21.1. 2025-10-13: server switched to 1.21.4. If you are looking for a server you instantly hop into and play on forever without any interruptions, this may not be it (yet). When the 1.21 stable is released, we will start a new long world on it, but right now we are still figuring everything out (including how many players we can handle, with possibility to upgrade if needed). But hey! on the upside, it gives you a chance to influence how will the server look like (no guarantees, but we listen to reason). Server is hosted in Germany, so our friends across the pond will have higher latency (~150ms), but i was told it is playable (subjective, YMMV). Server should be Survival first, with optional dedicated Creative zone far away enough from main spawn so the two won't clash (couldn't make it work the way i wanted, due to a bug in the game. So this is not a thing anymore, until the problem is fixed). Light RP is welcome, something super serious... depends, but right now everything is up for discussion. Discord server (like the server, our discord is also work in progress, and open to feedback): https://discord.gg/TwHMDmMtTk Current mod list (more will be added soon): EDIT 2025-08-25: As many, if not all of you know, 1.21.0 stable was recently released. We also know about it, and we are eagerly awaiting all/most mods we use to get updated for 1.21.0 so we can finally start the new long term world on 1.21.0. While waiting (and still playing on 1.21.0-rc.6), we are discussing how the future 1.21 world should look like, what settings to use, etc. I expect it take a few more days until we are running 1.21.0, so i ask anybody to please be patient, and engage in our discussions to shape what the future world will look like. EDIT 2025-08-29: We switched to 1.21.0 stable. So far runs great, but never say hop until you drop... EDIT 2025-09-10: Server updated to 1.21.1 EDIT 2025-09-19: Corrected the "Creative" related info. EDIT 2025-10-13: Server updated to 1.21.4
  21. Yes. You do it once on every instance, and then you take the "sessionkey" and "sessionsignature" (not sure if you need both, i didn't check, but it won't hurt) from the last instance where you logged in, and copy&paste it into the "clientsettings.json" of any other instances. After that, you can keep switching between the instances all you like, and none of them will bother you with the need to login again (until you do a new login anywhere which will invalidate the session tokens you were using before). I wish i would realize that sooner, it would save me some typing
  22. From what i observe in the game, the Waving Foliage keeps waving all the way to the end of your view distance. Even a bush that is 1200 blocks far away, having on-screen size of 1 pixel, is waving in the wind. This is probably wasting some performance, but most importantly, it makes the game look WORSE. It only adds more "ugly visual noise". Posting a screenshot doesn't cut it, because it cannot capture the waving movement which creates the uglyness. So if you don't know what i mean, see for yourself - crank up the viewdistance to 1000+ blocks if you haven't already, and compare how the distant foliage behaves/looks with Waving Foliage ON and OFF. So, PLEASE, add a slider that let's us set the maximum distance for waving foliage.
  23. Not quite what i meant. My "problem" was that every time i want to run version A, after running version B, i need to login again. But then this thing appeared above my head...and i realized, i can just copy paste the session key from whichever version i used (and logged in) last time. After that, i can keep switching as much as i want without needing to login after each switch. The reason is this... First, i installed version A, run it, it had no session key, so it asked me to login, i logged in and version A got session key - all good. Then i installed version B, run it, it had no session key, so it asked me to login, i logged in which invalidated the previous session, and version B now got session key, but the previous one stored in version A config was now useless. So... like a MORON, i kept renewing and invalidating the session keys as i switched versions, until i realized what the hell am i doing and copy pasted the currently valid session key into the other version's config.
  24. Oooh, so this method of finding people to play on your server really works? By the lack of engagement i see both in the discord and these forums, I was under the impression that players are rarer than gold! Ok...i guess i know what to do now
