Alright, I'm gonna mark this as solved soon, since no additional info has been added. I'm not sure what the etiquette is for which message I mark as the solution, the first message with the solution or a message with a summarized version? The tldr is (unless there's more info missing) it's an issue if either: 1. you have a custom install path (iirc you can set it to download to your custom path, but it might not default to your custom path) 2. you don't delete old versions of mods that don't have a version number as part of the file name prior to downloading the updated version (or if you don't clean out old versions of mods in general, I remember something about unchecking mods being unreliable, but I haven't confirmed)

I'll try to condense things more next time. I've been working on some of the over-explaining/perfectionism and tangenting, but I get worse about it when irl stuff is stressful. And when I decide to do dumb [excrement] like overthinking a forum post without eating anything after waking up at least 4 hours too early. So yeah note to self, that was not my brightest idea, maybe don't do that without snacks lol

I'll probably leave this open/not marked as solved for a couple days in case someone has more info? It doesn't quite feel right to mark it as solved yet, but I also don't know if leaving it indefinitely without marking a solution is chill or not.

(I'll change it to that for now) And thanks for the response, maybe the people who advise against using the 1-click install lost their worlds because they didn't clear old versions and remember to make backups.

PREFACE AS I HAVE DONE THE ADHD RAMBLING THING AGAIN: TANGENTS THAT AREN'T DIRECTLY RELEVANT ARE BANISHED TO THE FOOTNOTE WITH ||1|| AROUND THEM.||1|| So I've seen a couple people say that the 1-click install is unreliable, but after searching high and low I can't find a concrete answer to this, or even if it's still applicable. IIRC the closest thing I've seen ||2|| (other than a custom install path and/or more than one installation) was something to do with overwriting the zip files not being reliable, but as far as I've seen only mods with no version number in the zip file name get overwritten, and only 24 out of my 278 mods don't have a version number, of which only 3 have had an update ||3|| since I first downloaded them for this run. ||4|| So at least for me, it's shockingly easy to keep track of since I delete (or move) old versions of mods as I install their updates, so when I see a versionless troublemaker mod when I go to delete the old version, I just delete the mod and install its latest update. I mostly just want to know if the reason I've seen some people say "never do 1 click install" is actually relevant to how I do things, or if I can safely ignore that advice. ||5|| Also lmk if I need to add/remove tags, first forum post so I have no idea what the etiquette for tags is here
